Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Marie, I am soo sorry about your dad. I know what it is like when the person you love has this horrible diagnosis and his so young. My husband was only 46. I understand that he wants to fight. I would support him if that is his choice. You never know. How about clinical trials? I will keep you in our prayers.

April 1st Challenge

Minidriver --(Goal -10lbs) :rose:,,,,,,

Lap_dancer-(Goal -33lbs) :tongue2:,,,,,,

Deboregon -(Goal -15lbs),,,,,,

Julie.Ann ---(Goal -19lbs),,,,,,

We will fill in the smiley faces every week. That way we know which weeks we reported in and who we are missing. The last space will be only 4 days since that is when we will hit April 1st.

Anyone else going to sign up for the challenge? The more the merrier!:tt2:

Cool idea. I'm a visual learner and the change in smiley face seems easier for me. *Dee thanks again for the last challenge.

Yes, come on folks, I have found the challenge has made me more accountable to myself. Viewing others words while going through my own personal challenges. It works both ways, I have a better week and get answers at times to things I am having struggles with.

It also has left me feeling much closer to people and I am more willing to share of myself.

Some of you have already taken advantage of Fit Day. www.fitday.com

this is a great tool. The task bar at the top has several options:

Foods

Activities

Weight

Weight Goal

Journal

Moods

Body

Stats

Calendar

Reports

Which when used properly, ends up shaving time off the planning process and assuring there is a variety of food, assured nutrition or atleast awareness of content. * I Will Be using this tool for this next challenge.*

I love www.fitday.com. I use it daily. My favorite part is the "goal graph" I can track my weight loss and see if I'm on target to get to my goal. I love watching my BMI decrease. I also put all of my food in there in the AM and that way I know how I can pack my lunch for work. It keeps me motivated!

Checking in late (again) for the V-Day challenge. Please put me down for a -0.4lb.

Thanks Magaines!

I was just wondering if there might be anyone available to give me a ride from the airport to my fill and back on Thursday. Or maybe just one way if it's possible. My fill is at 2 so I wouldn't need a ride until 1 or so. my flight gets in at 10:15 but I don't want to make someone hang out with me for 4 hours lol!

And put me down for 12 lbs for the April Challenge.

Marie,

I wish I could meet up with you again! I would if I didn't have to work Wed night and Thursday night! It's a bummer to work nights now! Anyway, I hope this fill is good for you!

So a lot has happened in the past few days. My Dad had his MRI on Wednesday and met with the radiologist on Friday. He pulled up my dad's mri on the computer and let my dad know the preliminary results. The cancer is not gone, in fact, it has spread. Apparently the interferon hasn't helped at all. He said that my dad's 95% chance of living for 5 years has dropped to about 25%. The free-floating parts of the cancer have attached to his adrenal gland, one of his lungs and now there is more in his brain. The ones in his brain are so deep in that there aren't many options besides using radiation on his whole brain and hoping that it helps. But that can have some pretty bad side effects. My dad is meeting with the Oncologist this Wednesday to get some definite timelines and treatment options. I am having a hard time trying to wrap my mind around this.

I'm so sorry about your Dad's diagnosis. That's very sad! I agree with the others. Be there for him and support his decision to do all he can to fight this horrible cancer! You father is very very young! I am so sorry!

Thanks for the recipe, Dee! Sounds fantastic, can't wait to give it a try.

You're so welcome! I hope you enjoy it!

No worries, I actually decided tonight that I am going to cancel my flight and my appointment. I have been so tight the past few days because of the stress that I am going to wait until my body adjusts. I was getting stuck on cream of chicken Soup tonight, so I am afraid to get a fill and be too tight. Besides, my restriction is great right now. Maybe after (if) the stress goes away then I will make another appointment. Thanks for thinking of me though!

You're very welcome Sweet Marie!

I think it's wise to not get a fill at this time. Stress always causes me to be tight also. Take care of yourself, this is a very difficult time for all of you.

My prayers are with you and your family.

Yahoo!!! The new pool opens today! I plan on starting aerobics next Wed. (still have this cold; thought I would give it a week). Will be busy between now and then, so maybe won't focus on food so much. Trying to get in as many oscar contenders as possible, taking folks to casino, getting shot at spine clinic, and hosting an oscar party. Not much time for sitting and munching.

I am feeling a new burst of commitment:thumbup: Sun was out for a couple of days, and it makes such a difference! Plus I am going to Palm Springs on Mar. 11 and will be seeing guys I haven't seen since wedding and some since last June, so am making a push to lose more in next three weeks.

Glad the pool is opening, Deb. I was hoping to see some of the Oscar contenders but the only thing I've seen thus far is Slumdog Millionaire. DH is in Eugene this week and I'm feeling a bit under the weather, then we're leaving for Mexico, so I guess we won't be seeing anything!

Marie, I think that was a really good idea to just cancel your fill. You don't need that kind of hassle right now, and I'm sure the "stress diet" will be plenty.

I'm so glad I don't know any girl scouts. I have no strength at all to resist thin mints. I could easily plow through a whole box in one sitting.

Now I just need to resist the girls who are selling them in front of grocery stores.

Lap_dancer:

I am totally ripping off a post of your from a couple of years ago but I thought it was great when I read it!

------------------------------------------

"...In my private practice, I often ask my clients to read Portia

Nelson's "Autobiography in Five Short Chapters", requesting them to

observe which chapter from the five listed best describes where they

find themselves today..."

Chapter 1

I walk down the street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I fall in

I am lost.I am helpless

It isn't my fault.

It takes forever to find a way out.

Chapter 2

I walk down the same street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I pretend I don't see it.

I fall in again.

I can't believe I am in the same place

But, it isn't my fault.

It still takes a long time to get out.

Chapter 3

I walk down the same street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I see it is there.

I still fall in.it's a habit.

My eyes are open.

I know where I am.

It is my fault.

I get out immediately.

Chapter 4

I walk down the same street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I walk around it.

Chapter 5

I walk down another street.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
