Yikes, tomorrow is the weigh-in! :)

I've gained. I swore I wouldn't gain during Mushies, but I've gained. :crying: But I refuse to adjust my ticker down!

I am going to weigh in for the challenge today, because we are leaving for AZ tonight. I am down 1 pound this week! Wish it was more. Happy Thanksgiving all!!

Yay Marie! A pound lost is better than a pound gained! Happy t-day to you!

I've gained too. I'm not moving mine either. I refuse.

We'll do better next week.

I need some advice from experienced bandsters. Since my fill last week, I finally have restriction. YAY!!! But the problem is, I'm having a tough time eating enough at one time to stay full for more than a few hours. I'm finding myself craving soft foods because I'm hungry and want some food in my body.

Is it better to just go ahead and eat something small every few hours? Or should I try to force myself to eat enough at each meal to fill me up? I had the insides of 4 pieces of sushi for lunch, then was starving later and tried to eat an apple a few hours later and PB'd. I couldn't bear the thought of trying to eat real food for dinner, so I ate cottage cheese, but now I'm starting to feel hungry again. ARGH!!!

Hi everyone!! I know I have been MIA for the last few weeks! I was in North Carolina and then came down with a horrible cold the day I flew back. It has taken over a week to go away. I had a great time in NC and at the Marine Corp Ball-I will post pics when I download them off my camera-I felt so bad all week I didn't even want to do that!:grouphug:

I just wanted to say hi to everyone! I miss you guys and I hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving! I know I feel very blessed to have all you wonderful ladies in my life! :grouphug:

Sweet Mini,

It's okay and perfectly fine to eat frequenty very small meals! Actually, for you it would be preferable. The frequent smaller meals will stoke your metabolism and keep your blood sugar at an even level.

Try it. There is nothing wrong with grazing on small amounts every 2 hours. Are you able to stay satiated at least 2 hours? Are you getting stuck? OR PB'g?

I can't remember what I weighed last week, but I know I am 8lbs down from the beginning of the challenge. I remember my initial weight. I'm out of town and my weigh calendar is at home!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and everyone here!!!

I am thankful for my band, thankful for my bandito peeps and thankful for my better health!!

I think you sound too tight. Insides of 4 pieces of sushi is barely anything... & PB'ing on an apple. Just be careful! :) You need to get nutrition in. Make sure you are getting your Protein in!

HAPPY TURKEY DAY everyone! Gobble Gobble! I cooked for the first time for a large group. It turned out wonderful!! I made green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce from scratch, stuffing, rolls, gravy, turkey... yadda yadda... it was delish! I was able to eat enough to satisfy and not feel too restricted, but I was restricted enough that I couldn't finish round one! And dessert was about 3-4 bites of pie and I was done done done.

I also weighed in this morning and I am down another 4 pounds. YEAH! So I am almost back to where I was pre-gallbladder surgery. I think my plateau may finally be gone. *crossing fingers*

I still have restriction. Some things give me a hard time while others are too easy. I think I could go for just a scootch more but am happy to have any!

Happy Thanksgiving all! I hope you all enjoyed your day.

For the challenge, I have not lost anything this week but I am glad I didn't gain either. Congrats to all the losers this week.

Hello all my lovelies, and happy Thanksgiving!!! Congrats to all the losers this week, and sympathies for those of us who didn't have so much success (I gained .30, oh well).

Munchie, I'm so glad you're back! I had started to think you'd run off with a Marine!

Dorky, your T-giving sounds great! Isn't it a fun meal to cook? I LOVE making Thanksgiving. It's the best. And I was even able to eat and enjoy! I just took it REALLY slow and chewed chewed chewed and it was great. Right now I'm having a small piece of sugar free crustless pumpkin pie. Yummy.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
