Once on the pre op diet, I decided to start watching Dr. Oz every day to get in a dose of "healthy inspiration". He does support bariatric surgery - I think the episode is titled "The Underperformed Surgery You Should Be Having" (saw on YouTube, not recent) and it made me feel better about my decision.

Anyhow, after months of watching, I have to laugh as the information is so contradictory. Depending on his guest and topic/health issue, you should or should not eat fish or meat of any kind, should or should not eat soy, Vitamins are necessary yet bad for you, milk is good/milk is bovine slime and all dairy is bad, zinc and Iron we must have, yet metal minerals cause Alzheimer's, pesticides are toxic on our fruits and veggies, foods are lab created to be the most addictive and finally, antibiotics will cause the next plague.

I almost prefer the blissful ignorance of my cheeseburger paradise! Now that I'm trying to be healthy, I'm afraid everything else is going to kill me too! Lol!!

P.S. I still love you Dr. Oz.

I think he's a windbag. Not to the same degree as Dr. Phil but still a windbag.

He endorses everything, and has the best weightloss plan every other week. Drives me crazy to watch him anymore, so I don't:)

He is acutally from the hospital where i was going to originally have my surgery "columbia presbyterian" in NYC and that is one of the top hospitals in NYC. That's where Bill Clinton and many other public figures go. Hillary was there during her situation a few months ago. I think Dr. Oz is pretty cool but i also feel that all doctors contradict themselves so its a matter of who you trust and what you believe.

It is hard because it seems like there are two sides to everything, like caffeine will ruin you and caffeine is a perfect thing. My motto is educate as much as possible then use own intelligence to decide what is best for me.

Can you post the link to Dr. Oz's YouTube video? I can't find it.

So maybe what Dr. Oz is saying is that everything is okay as long as its in moderation.

I'm sorry it wasn't YouTube, but right on the Dr. Oz site. It has 5 "parts" to it. It is on bypass specifically, but that's okay. We all know sleeve is even better!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
