So since this post I've started taking fiber gummies every day and the problem is gone <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

How many do you take a day? I'm having the same issues :-(

Try the following every day:

1. A cap of Miralax, mixed with 32 oz Water . Flavor the Water as you desire. Drink.

2. Add 2 tbsp chia seeds to 8 oz of water in a blender cup. shake vigorously every 2-3 minutes for 20-30 minutes or until seeds are gelled. You will know they are gelled enough when seeds stop moving after a shake of blender cup. Add 1 serving of favorite Protein shake into blender cup. Nix thoroughly until Protein powder is properly mixed into gelled chia seed liquid. Drink.

3. Drink 100+ oz of water a day

This should help you have at least 1 BM a day, reliably. It has worked great for me. It is important to drink lots of water in order for chia seeds and miralax to do their magic.

I can't tolerate straight water' date=' it hits my tummy like a rock and makes me extremely nauseous :/[/quote']

I'm having this problem too! It started a few weeks ago and when I drink straight Water (slowly and sips) it makes me nauseous and I feel my stomach spasm and I start gagging. Oh that saliva that comes when you think you're going to throw up (but don't) is horrid. It's easier if I drink Water with something mixed in be it crystal light or peppermint tea is my daily drink.

And yeah my BMs have been painful. I feel like I'm passing a rock and I worry I will get a hemorrhoids if I keep this up (sorry for the tmi). Oh the ugly side of WLS

Just bought those today and dulcolax in hopes of being regular.

Ducolax is good for unblocking, but not so good for long term use because your GI could come to depend on them. If you stop taking them after long term use, you may find regularity even harder. It could also be addictive in that more and more is required over time for same results. However, this is my speculation. I do not have any evidence to back this.

It is better to take something gentler and non chemical reaction based for daily use.

Osmosis based regulation products such as miralax and chia seeds work great because they draw Water into the GI tract for a more natural elimination process.

coffee also works great for some people.

I have read also others eat fiber Cereal such as Fiber One. Natural fiber is probably the best choice, but you do have to watch out for carbs and bloating that may come from eating fiber Cereal. If you can manage the original Fiber One cereal and you are far enough out, it is a superb day to day regulator. It is one of my mini goals to start eating Fiber One original cereal again. Lol.

Good luck!

I am glad those fiber gummies work for you. Everyone is different. For example, they did not work for me very well pre and post op.

Thanks for the advice Fiddleman! I'll give miralax a try.

I took 1 Dulcolax capsule a day the first month after surgery. Since then, I started tracking fiber on My Fitness Pal. Usually I mix 1/3 - 1/4 c of All Bran Buds into my Greek yogurt. Plus I take fiber gummies. Sometimes I swap the All Bran for a Quest bar. Before surgery, I only went once day day. Now I go once a day or every other day. I do need to drink more Water though.

You sound exactly like me. Fortunately the fiber gummies are working and I'm going daily, and it isn't hard anymore.

Ok this is TMI but I feel so gross that maybe some one here will understand. I am on vacation right now so I haven't been drinking Water as consistently and I left my fiber pills at home. Well I hadn't gone in three days and I felt like Rocks were sitting in my stomach. Boy was I right. I just had the most painful BM and there was lots of bleeding. It was so much backed up and so hard I can't keep going like this. I don't want to get hemorrhoids . Before surgery I was very regular and now it's a pain in my ass, literally.

Ok I will try you suggestions. Thanks. Sorry for the details.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
