I was sleeved 3/13. I had to do three days of clears prior to surgery so I am now on my 8th day of clears.. and by clears I mean no Protein drinks.. just water' date=' sugar free flavorings in the Water, and clear broths. Of course I'm sick of drinking these drinks. On Tuesday I can add Protein powders and milk WOO HOOOO and will stay on that for a week. Now I absolutely feel that I could "handle" mushies right now. I drank over 80 ounces of Fluid the day after surgery with ease so I'm sure I could handle something more substantial... BUT You could not PAY ME ENOUGH to deviate from the plan that I have been given. I want to give my sleeve lots of time to heal in peace without stressing it by adding food ahead of time. We can certainly handle a few weeks of a boring diet, I mean we have the rest of our lives to enjoy eating a variety of delicious foods, right?[/quote']

I am soooooo jealous that you can drink 80 oz. I'm 20 days post op and can barely handle 30-40 oz a day. I have not cheated either and I've stuck to what I was told to eat.

I am seeing a lot of angry responses....WE ARE HUNGRY! Why are people so angry...maybe its tough love...or scared straight VSG edition...but my goodness. I feel you. I am a little bit more than two weeks post op and i am hungry. I am plum tired of those Protein shakes...mostly i drink Water and crystal light. I did eat two oxtails and i felt like crap....its just the addict in me. I ate a piece of general tso' chicen today...it wasnt as bad....but i am trying to go back to not eating until i get the approvals...be strong. I was told i can eat softs if that is helpful. GOOD LUCH!

I think that some people are trying to get subconscious permission to cheat, absolutely. But I think just as many may just be looking for info on what others are allowed to eat so they can ask their doctor reasonable, informed questions about their prescribed diet compared other diets out there. It may not result in any change in what they're allowed to eat, but at least they may have a clear understanding of why their doctor chooses the diet she does for them.

@Empress29 - keep in mind that the people who post here can get upset when they think that a fellow sleever may be looking for ways to sabotage herself or himself. It's generally less about anger than it is about a lot of concern about something that they see as a potentially really bad idea being considered, perhaps tainted with a bit of frustration or annoyance if this has been discussed before or if it seems the person is bent on a destructive behavior and completely disregarding advice. Sometimes the emotional response is the result of either having personal experience of the impact of doing what is being discussed, or watching a fellow member here go through it. In any case, since we can't see each other or hear the tone of voice, the only way to convey the urgency sometimes is to be verbally forceful. Don't assume anger, assume high levels of concern, and you'll probably get a better picture of what is the truth in many cases.

Of course, there are those who are very, ahem, *direct* in how they state things, and tend to imply that you must be stupid or not willing to do what it takes in their responses. I still say it's usually concern motivating them, as otherwise they wouldn't bother posting, but their constant "tough love" mode might be a bit less effective for a lot of us.

I would be careful cheating. Your stomach was just traumatized in a big way. Each surgeon sets their WLS protocol based on how they perform the procedure and how each phase can promote the healing of the stomach and not put the patient at risk for leaks.

I am not trying to sound preachy, but be super careful making decisions like this or taking others advice on it, when it goes against your surgeons advice. You have the rest of your life to eat.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
