At my two week post op appt the PA said I'm losing too fast and some of it must be muscle, which isn't good. I had lost 11# at that point. Anyway heard of this? I've never had to slow down my weight loss before!

Sounds odd. Did they put you on a body analyzer scale and actually see the breakdown of fat vs Water vs fat free mass?

No they didn't but I wish they had. I get in all of my Protein everyday too.

Oh boy take it as a grain of salt. I wouldn't worry you will lose some muscle but I believe mostly fat. Enjoy this rapid weight loss, you deserve it!!!

I lost 18 in my first 2 weeks and dr was happy I wouldn't stress too much as long as you are getting your Proteins in.

My BMI when I had surgery was about 40-41 so this is the rate I had expected. Maybe at the next appointment I will ask for more clarification.

I am curious to know how this PA was able to determine that you are losing muscle, without doing any specific diagnostic testing.

It sounded like she was just guessing, obviously :) I will continue taking in all my Protein and start resistance training as suggested but I'm not going to purposely slow down my weight loss.

What Is the body analyzer like? I am at a 6 week stall gave my nurse MFP username and password and she said I'm doing a great job. So they are having me come in to sit with her and the dr. to figure out what's going on. I've only lost 14 pounds since surgery. I think my body is broken... I'm ready to melt...

One weight loss dr I had several years ago had one and you step on these sensors on the machine barefoot and also hold some in your hands. From that it tells you your % of fat, Water, muscle, etc. Its pretty cool. Wish my surgeons office had one.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
