Damn I don't know what to do!

Recommended Posts

I remember thinking, "I don't need surgery. I can do this on my own." It was when I was being pushed back into my room AFTER my surgery. Obviously, the drugs were messing with my mind. :-)

I tried to lose weight on my own, and I couldn't. I was slowly gaining MORE weight despite my efforts, and I was starting to have side effects of my weight that I didn't even realize until I lost weight. For instance, before I lost weight, I would see something under the kitchen table and ask my kids to pick it up. After I lost weight, I picked it up. The effort to pick it up before losing weight made it so it wasn't even an option for me, and I didn't realize that. There were hundreds of little things like this before I lost weight.

The surgery went well for me. I haven't had any issues. I am happy with my body, and I have been pretty much from the time I went under 200 pounds (I am 5'7.5" tall). Still, I don't ever want to be 180 pounds again even though my all-time high was 255.

I was nervous before the surgery, but I was also excited. I wanted to be skinny NOW. It changed my mind. I had my surgery in August. A month later, I was at the beach, and I wasn't hiding my body. I had only lost 25 pounds or so, but I knew I would never be that big again, and it made me so confident with where I was at, and I was happy with that.

My surgery is scheduled for next month and with it being so close my nerves are getting the best of me too. These forums have helped me tremendously. Every time I have considered backing out I stop and think of all the health risks that come with being overweight. Or the fact that after my weight loss I won't be out of breath just walking up the stairs in my house and will have so much more energy. It's a big step but it's nice having so many on here going thru the same thing and hearing so many say they have absolutely one regret only and that is that they didn't do it sooner. We can do it! Good luck on your journey :)))

Thanks guys. I just can't get around the fact that its permanent. There's no going back after the surgery is done!!!!

Permanent is good! :). I say this because I have been fighting this battle all my life! So I personally needed a permanent solution! And the quality of life is so good with this surgery. I am 6 weeks out and I feel so amazing. I have so much energy, and I am able to eat solid foods today! Woo Hoo! And I am down well over 40 lbs. :)

I do understand your nerves, because this is big. You are committing to live healthier. You are choosing to love yourself more than you love food! :) But it's a good thing, I promise!

It is normal when I was rolled into the OR and introduced to the team I really had a case of o'crap what am I doing. After waking in recovery with nothing to drink or eat It really hit me what did I do. But I would do it again and advise anyone to do it. I feel like Superman and have had no problems or side effects. My energy levels are high and I'm only 3 weeks out. Good luck and enjoy your new life.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
