How did you now you were dehydrated and when did you know that you needed to go to the hospital? I have never been a huge drinker and post op i have been averaging between 35-45 ounces of fluids. Just curious to know what made you know it was time to go to the ER for some IV's?

Thanks

When your oral mucosa is dry-inside of your mouth. Your urine production is very scant, less than an ounce per hour.

keep sipping sipping sipping! Try to make a conscious effort to drink more. In the beginning, I just focused on getting my fluids in by taking a sip then walk around the inside of the house then take another sip. I did nothing else but focus on getting my liquids in. I know by noon I should have at least 3 cups of Water in me. If not then focus on just sipping until I get it in. Then by 3-4, I should have another 3 cups of Water in me. Then I try for another 3 cups and if I don't make it, then it's ok because I would have had 6 plus my Protein shakes/soups.

You don't want to have to depend on going to the hospital for IV fluids. It's hard in the beginning, but you can do it with a sip at a time. Have you tried flavoring your water? I use Crystal Light for 6 cups then plain water for the last 3.

Good luck with getting your fluids in.

I always look into the toilet after I pee and that's how I know if I need to drink more Water. I struggled with drinking before surgery and now I make a conscious effort to drink 15 oz before meals and sip on water throughout the night. I pee a lot and often but thankfully it's clear and no longer dark orange. I don't think I answered your question but if you are only using the bathroom every 4 hours through the day, then you're not getting enough water.

Unfortunately I learned the hard way Tuesday and passed out. They, kept me in the hospital for one night due to abnormal EKG because I was so dehydrated. Prior to this happening I had very dry mouth, I noticed I wasnt urinating as much, and slight dizzy spells.

35oz is enough to keep young rom becoming dehydrated. But, it isn't nearly enough to help you flust all the toxins from your body that are produced by burning fat cells at the rate you could be. Not getting your hydration will dramatically affect your weight loss. Focus & lose. You can do it.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
