This is my second full day home from the hospital and my pain is a lot less today. It was really only bad when standing up or sitting down but today it is so much better! I can stand up without gasping in pain and holding my stomach, so that's a nice improvement. The biggest challenge for me has been getting enough Water in, so that is going to have to be my focus today. Just wish it would stop raining out so i could go for a walk outside! Keep up the good work everyone! We can do this!!

Well here I am, day 3 post op. still in some pain, but different pain. My incisions don't hurt a bit, but I swear I can feel my sleeve shifting. Sometimes it's crampy. But I'm walking more and easier. Still no bowel movement. No nausea in 24 hours. I've already had half a Protein shake today, so that's good. Oh! And I attempted a shower. My hubby was there the whole time, and I only (barely) made it through the Shampoo and rinse before I had to go sit down, naked, in the recliner. Man, I'm pitiful! But luckily I have lots of support, and I'm surrounded by people who care about me and cheer me on.

The most amazing thing is the weight loss. I mean, it's insane. I've gone from 294 to 283 in a week. It's incredible. I'm so excited to see it continue. My 8 year old told me today that I'm already skinnier. Bless her heart. My cousin and grandmother are here helping, man I'm just the luckiest girl in the world.

Good luck all!!

I just showered for the first time today as well. Boy was that exhausting! I was able to get through all of it and with out help, but afterward i had to pop a pain pill and take a break for a few hours. Feeling better now. so great that you have such support, it's soo important! The weight loss is awesome though i agree! I was 272 when i went in for surgery and today i'm 263!

Three things I never thought I'd want in my house:

1. A big brown ugly recliner

2. A snuggie

3. A plastic shower chair

This is my life:

I sit in the recliner, covered with the snuggie with the remote in one hand and my iPhone in the other. I watch trash tv all day in my room with the door closed while taking double the pain meds. I smoke pot with my cousin about twice a day. I sip premier Protein shakes. I chew ice. I worry about this pain and that pain and wether they are normal. I walk. My grandmother gave me a bell to ring. My husband rubs my hands and thighs till I fall asleep at night.

I know it hurts, but it feels like vacation.

My usual life:

Four kids, age 3,8,13,14. Two girls two boys. I'm a super strict very tidy mother. My kids make all A's and B's. I clean, study, transport, bake, cook, discipline, and never have time to call my parents. My husband works so much I hardly see him.

This is literally the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Don't hate ;-)

Don't mean to be Debbie Downer but smoking pot is a bad idea! For one it causes vasodilation (decrease in BP/tachycardia) which is not really conducive to healing at all. For two combined with pain meds you put yourself at risk for over-sedation.

I'd maybe hold off until my sleeve had healed a little better.

Thanks for the advice Kim! Did you know tha in states such as California and Colorado doctors actually prescribe medical marijuana after bariatric surgery? Don't worry, all my decisions are informed. My doctor told me its nothing like cigarettes, nicotine is the real enemy!

Sleeved on the 6th. The day of surgery the nausea and vomiting was unbelievable! Had no idea I would hold that much vomit after not eating! Discharged the next day- nausea seems to be a small issue at night but I take half of my phenergen dose and it's fine. Hoping I won't have to tonight.

The gas pains are SO much better and everyone was right walking helped but UGH- not fun walking at all! Actually went for a ride today and did well! A little tired but otherwise no too bad.

I'm also having trouble getting all of my fluids in but I changed glasses today and weirdly that's helped! My giant tervis tumbler to the rescue! :)

Glad everyone seems to be doing great!

I feel so blessed to have not dealt with much nausea at all. I haven't thrown up once, and quickly learned by taking it slow which foods made me feel pukey. So glad you're feeling better Kim! Walking is the best medicine!

I was sleeved March 1, I am jealous of some of your amazing losses!! I am finally down 6 lbs. I gained all that I lost in pre op and didn't start losing at all until 3 days ago.

I am feeling pretty good, just get so tired so fast.. But I plan to get some walking in this week and build up my stamina !!

Getting my fluids in and my Protein, I did move to cream Soups this weekend, I just needed something new. I made them very thin and a small bowl. But it gave me a fresh start to this week!! I needed that!! One week of full liquids and then I am on to puréed foods!!

I might try to get to costco for those shakes they sound perfect!!!

Cool! I didn't know that! I have asthma so that would definitely affect my decision!

And yep! Nicotine is TERRIBLE!

Alberta, the Premier Protein shakes at costco are Sooo good! You'll love them. I drink them and strained progresso light chicken noodle. I love it. Occasionally I crave food like pizza or whatever, but my body knows I can't take it so it passes quickly. Good luck! Keep us updated! We need to all support each other, especially those of us who were sleeved recently. We are all fighting the same battle!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
