Hi everyone. I was sleeved 3/4' date=' went home the next day. No real issues besides the normal gas issues until today. Went to get my staples and drain taken out. Had a bit of trouble with the drain, when they went to pull it out it ripped the incision open more. Didn't feel to good. They ended up having to stitch it up. From the start of my preop diet I'm down 42 lbs. 20 since surgery. And none of my clothes fit anymore but I guess that's a good problem to have ;0)[/quote']

Sorry to hear about your drain! I get mine about tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you when he pulls it out. Congrats on your weight loss ????

Most people are counting their weight loss from the beginning if their sleeve journey starting usually with their pre pre op diet. For example. I was sleeved march 1 but I started my low fat low carb diet about 1 month before and then did the liquid diet 2 weeks before surgery. On surgery day I was down 20 lbs and now another 15.

Surgeon didn't put me on a pre op diet so you only imagine what horrors I inflicted upon myself the final two weeks, I measure my weight starting right before surgery.

Cat naps are normal! I experienced that. What helped me while I slept was complete darkness and I put a thin pillow over my stomach so I can roll over w minimal pain. When you laugh and cough use the pillow. Just apply little pressure. It works like a charm. Good luck.

Stay off the scale!, and increase activity. Try walking around the block. If you feel like you don't have the energy. Try crystal light energy in the powdered form. It give you a natural like boost. You'll get there! Good luck to you! :)

Soon2bmzthin, you still reading? Please tell me how you're doing? I'm sorry we never got to go to Walmart, I was just so tired and Pam had a Migraine.

I was sleeved march 2nd and my biggest problem is the acid. I just can't get it under control.

I've had a couple crying spells, which is hormones and life both. I have 6 young children to care for and some days I wonder what the heck I was thinking, doing this when they still need mama so much. When I wake in the morning I feel so weak and I really have no choice bit to get them ready for school am get the little 2 fed and diapers changed. Sigh. Thank goodness for glucose tablets.

I'm actually drinking "regular" drinks instead of low cal, drs orders. Fine with me, I HAVE to have energy. As long as I have a little Protein in my day, it seems to be working for me.

This is just plain hard!? Did any of you feel as if it would be easier than this? I'm not craving specific foods, I just feel like I need substance in my tiny tummy. My stomach hurts near constant from what I'm going to call hunger. Not head hunger, bonefied HINGER. maybe it's acid bit it feels like hunger and I feel like I'm starving.

Hey Amy, its ok I knocked early out and had to leave the next morning at 6am.

I also have had a few crying episodes and also have thought maybe I should not have done this with my son being so small.

When I got back home all he wanted was mommy to bathe, feed, carry him. So its been hard.

I have been sipping the Isopure drinks. 20 oz =40 grams of Protein. And having crushed ice all day. I love Water and am having a hard time not gulping so the ice has been my saving grace.

Had some Unjury chicken Soup yesterday. Will have some more tomorrow. Going to shoot for 60 grams of protein tomorrow. I am on thin liquids for 3 weeks so I'm sure it will get boring but that will be a small price to pay for a healthy weight and all the health rewards that go with it!

Keep up the great work and speedy recovery to you! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Hi netwat, my problem is also not being able to jungle water down. I love water. I guess we will need to adapt. I decided to mix my own shake. Tasted much better than anything ready. Congrats and good luck.

I was sleeved March 6th and since that day I have lost 20 lbs. crazy! I am focusing more on my Fluid intake than Protein. Yesterday's attempt at a shake made my sleeve twist and turn. Today is my surgeons appointment for a check up. We'll see what he says. I'm still having pain directly behind my belly button - searing, burning, almost tearing pain. Totally confused as to what it is. I am so ready to feel better!!!!!!!!! :(

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
