Thank you to everyone who responded, today was/ is my first real rough day emotionally and it's been quite a ride. I'm starting to feel more positive, and trying to remind myself that i'm only 5 days post op. I can't expect to be feeling great and perfect and normal 5 days after major life altering surgery. You guys have really helped me through today, thank you so much!

The food I can't wait to eat is a double bacon extra pickle cheeseburger with no bun. NO BUN! My brain is making the necessary changes. Go brain!

Everyone seems to be feeling a lot of the same emotions. Helps that if we're crazy at least we aren't alone! ;)

I had a melt down over the Beyonce documentary in HBO this afternoon so I think it must just be an adjustment thing. I've been tearful all afternoon. LOL! Not sad, just tearful.

Went to lunch with a friend- got Soup. Came home rested and just got home from Walmart. So physically I think I'm doing great. I'm still needing a good bit of rest but I'm more upbeat than I was a few days ago! My heating pad is still my BFF though. ;)

I'm postop day 5 and I keep feeling better every day! MAKING myself drink everything I'm supposed to was the hardest part today! I

So i just had a mini melt down crying and wondering why i did this to my body and if it was the right thing to do. I guess just feeling really emotional today and gettin gcaught up in the discomfort and all the suckieness that is the first few weeks post op. Anyone else felt this way? :(

I have had a melt down myself today. I take Prozac 10 days before my cycle. When my cycle begins all the emotions disappear. I am fading from mu cycle now but today has been a very emotional day.

LaKimmie I know how you feel I tried watching that too, CRIED like a baby. I was like WTF? My mom came down to help with the kids while my Hubby is a work, she been scratching her head at me. This is all such a big adjustment, it truly is a life changing event. I have been going for walks with my Mom, it actually gives me time to clear my head. It's annoying that it takes 1 hour to eat a 1/2 cup of yogurt, but I just keep telling myself "Soon I will be happier and healthier" I just have to keep giving myself positive pep talks. Who knows by the middle of the week, I may be able to sit through Beyoncé documentary without CRYING!! :D

I was sleeved on Monday the fourth and I'm going back to work tomorrow! Ugh. I'm not in physical pain but I'm not back at 100% and I'm feeling really anxious. I think I can def do this tomorrow. Plus my job isn't strenuous but I don't want to be slacking too much. Maybe I'm thinking too much. Oh boy here come the emotions.

Hi there - I too was sleeved on the 6th . I knew the next day I was super dehydrated !!!! After the foley came out I couldn't pee & had no urge . When I did my urine was dark brown . My mouth felt like the Sahara desert !!!! I ate ice chips like crazy . Hardly no nausea , some gas pains ; but I expected them . Finally after begging to be given fluids as I felt so dehydrated my pulse and heart rate went through the roof ! Then they wouldn't let me go home !!! Finally I started passing gas , peeing & by the time I left I'd actually gained weight from all my Fluid blouses !!! They may have bariatric beds but it still hurts so bad if your not tall enough to get in them all the way .!!!! I felt my incisions hurt way more than I Remembered my hysterectomy incision . Finally took a shower at home today & washed my hair ! Hard time getting all my Protein in as well . Some of the drinks I've tried are terrible . I also used the protein bouillon but added some off reg bouillon for better flavor . My weights finally going down ! For now all I can say is I'm truely not hungry ! Hope the healing continues !!!! Good luck to us all !!!

Hi Everyone' date=' I was sleeved on the 6th. Released yesterday the 9th. I had a very painful post op experience but am definitely on a healing trend now. My only issue now is sometimes I have pains in my stomach where it feels like someone is squeezing my stomach. It comes and goes a couple of times and then will go away for a few hours. I find it comes mostly after I wake up.. Anyone else have this? It's very painful. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />[/quote']

Those are gas pains , just keep walking ...they go away . It's sore but it will pass .

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
