Hi everyone!

I did go and see Dr. Wynn Wednesday. She is really nice. She did give me a fill. I was happy with my weight loss over the last 2 months. I now have 7cc in a 9cc band. I am on mushies today and I had some cream of wheat for Breakfast. I COULD NOT eat the whole thing. After I ate close to 1/2 of it, I just threw the rest away. YEAH! I feel like the band is now working for me. It is an amazing feeling!

FYI - St. Francis will now have a post op only group. Now that I said that I can't remember which Wednesday it is. I think it is the 2nd Wednesday of the month. I'll have to check.

Lisa - 50 pounds!!!!! That is awesome. We should catch up again. Since it has been a while, I am sure that I will notice a big difference!

Lynn - I have to tell you that I think I get most irritated when I do what I consider the right thing (eating correctly) only to find out later that there were tons of carb/calories in what I ate. Yikes!

I tried a friend's wii fit the other night. It was so much fun! I am really considering getting one. I am not a big fan of exercise, but this stuff was actually fun. We played for around an hour. It seemed like 10 minutes! I did work up a sweat. The hoola hoop thing was a lot of fun. I didn't do that one that long, but I woke up the next day and noticed that some of unused muscles were a little achy.

How is everyone doing. this thread has been very quiet.

I had fill #3 Friday, I am at 5.5cc in my 14cc band,

Dr. Wynn was running behind on Friday so Dr. Iragu did my fill. It was just 0.5cc, and that was tough to get him to agree too. I thought maybe a bit more would be better, but he thought I was doing well where I was. If he only knew how hard I have been trying to stay on course these past few weeks.

I know the weight loss is slowing down, but I don't want it to stop. My next scheduled fill is 9/18, my 6 months bandaversary!

Good news is the hernia I have is too small to worry about and he said, not to worry about it!

I did get in my walk this morning, through the thunder and lightening, but stayed dry until I was finished.

Hi!

I went to the Wednesday night support group tonight and it was fun. It is the 2nd Wednesday of the month. Dr. Wynn is so sweet.

It was nice to see many successful people there. I would love to be as tiny as some of them were.

Lynn - glad you got your fill. Sometimes, I don't think the docs understand that you are loosing weight because of YOU, not the band. Because I am losing slowly, I have been able to get the fills.

Meg - did you go to the Tuesday night meeting? I heard that there were only 2 post ops there.

Anyone else going to do the Heart walk in September. I believe it is 2k. (Don't quote me, I haven't checked out the website. That was the talk at the meeting tonight)

Anyway, I moseying along with my weight loss. How is everyone doing?

How many people come to the post-op meeting on Wednesdays? I've been wanting to go to it, but it seems that there is always something that night.

I've pretty much given up on the Tuesday meetings. It's kind of fun being the only post-op in the room, and I enjoy helping people. But I really don't get much out of it for myself.

As for an update on me -- I need a serious kick in the pants! I'm snacking and not exercising. Bad, bad bandster. I really need to get myself back on track, and having a tough time doing it. Those "tomorrows" just keep adding up.

Healthy Heart Walk is September 7, a sunday. I was going to join the group here at work, but had to bow out. My knee has been giving out on me. I walk the 896/40 track, but have slowed down my pace.

I totally forgot about last night's meeting. And I was free to attend

Weight loss continues. and after last Friday's .5cc fill I have days of extreme restriction and times of almost nothing.. lunch to day kicked my A$$. I ate 3 shrimp and started to feel discomfort. Got up and walked a bit and feel better now.. but will only finish my Soup for now..

Hi Fairy! - If you need a butt kicking to get in gear, let us know!

Last night there were about 20 or so folks there last night. And of course, Dr. Wynn and MaryEllen and Sam. It was nice because there was a nice mixture. There were about 4-5 folks who had more than a year and were looking good. There was a lady who was about 9 months out and had lost 95 pounds. There were folks at a few months, a lady who was a week out and a man who was only a few days out.

I did find it helpful.

I also like going on Tuesdays because it is fun to help folks. It also reminds me why I did this in the first place. I find their enthusiasm contagious.

On a good note, I have finally lost over 30 pounds. I can't update my ticker right now, but I will as soon as I can! Woohoo......7 more pounds and I will be in double digits as to what I need to loose!

Thanks for the information about the walk Lynn. If anyone else is interested, the website is www.heartwalk.kintera.org/wilmingtonde

30 pounds is awesome! Well done!

I don't need a kick as much as to have someone come over to my house around 9:00 am and drag me outside and dump me in the driver's seat of my car! Any volunteers?

I don't mind exercising. In fact, I am rather starting to enjoy it. That's not the problem. The problem is walking out the door! Especially since my only opportunity is in the morning after I get DS off to school and before my nephew comes over at 11:30. And I am SOOOO not a morning person!

If I miss that, fitting exercise into my nutsy schedule is almost impossible. Especially with small kids around - you can't take them on a walk with you, and you can't leave them at home.

OK - I don't have my sister's kids tomorrow, and there's no school. I'm going to make myself go exercise! I just need to make myself do it. I was doing really well for a while, then "life" got in the way and I lost the habit. I need to get it back again!

Hi Fairy:

Cool that you like exercise. Believe me, I know about trying to do ANYTHING with a small child around. My son has calmed down now, but he is still very active. (He was riding his bike in the storm last week. I realized it after he had been outside for a few minutes!)

I hope you get out to exercise today. I don't have any real words of wisdom. The only thing that has worked for me is if I make myself look at it like a doctor's appointment. Then I don't allow myself to miss it.

I did it! I went to the gym today. Busted my patootie. And, surprisingly, I haven't lost that much ground for missing for a couple months. I wasn't able to do the elliptical for quite as long, but aside from that, I only had to drop 5 reps off of one of my machines. And I didn't lower any of the weight settings. Woohoo! I was so worried that I was going to have to fight to get back to where I was after being so bad.

Of course, I did go to a campfire tonight and ate s'mores. I won't say how many. :) (Any chance there is Protein in milk chocolate?) I guess it's a good thing that dinner got stuck so I only ate a couple bites of that, though.

Fairy - congrats on getting back to the gym, and WTG not having to decrease anything from where you were before.

Hope - Glad to see you are doing better. You did have quite a few "disrsactions" during the early time after the band. Keep up the good work

Hey 366 - are you out there!!!!

Hi Delaware folks!

Fairy: very cool that you did your workout. Even better that it was similar to where you were!

Life is good. I'm glad. I was beginning to wonder about this band and if it was ever going to work. I have an appointment next week. I have a feeling that I will need to talk them into giving me a small fill. I really believe the next one will be "it".

Hellooooooo

(echo of hello, hello, hello.......)

Anyone come in this room anymore?

I'm going to the support group meeting on Tuesday. I am going to use the pre-ops to continue to motivate me!

I'm struggling a bit with the exercise........ UGH!

I'm here!

Can't make Tuesday, I have a PTA meeting. But I might try to make Wednesday. Anyone else going?

I'm still having a tough time fitting exercise in. If I make it once a week I'm lucky. :crying: But, I have been being really good about walking up to school. It takes about 10-15 minutes one way (depending on how fast I can get the kids to walk and how many times the dogs poop), but it's up a hill so that helps. That's 2 walks a day 3x/week, and 1 walk 2x/week. Not a lot, but better than I was doing a year ago!

However, I'm also in a plateau for about 2 months. I've got to get my motivation back. I'm eating until full instead of just satisfied, and that late night snack is killing me. I just can't give it up. I'm going to just have to get all the Snacks out of the house. Which isn't fair to the rest of the family.

Both are at the St. Francis site next to CHRIAS, at 6:00 pm.

Tuesday is the "original" support group, with mostly pre-ops who are required to attend. I have no idea if there is a topic this month. Typically a lot of "newbie" discussion - insurance, liquids/mushies, etc, and not a lot of post-op help.

Wednesday is the post-op group with Dr. Wynn. (I've never been to one of these.)

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
