wondering if my ins will let me have another try

Hi everyone!! I'm new here. Quick backround... had the Lapland 5 years ago, it was awful. I threw up almost every day. Fills unfills..it was a nightmare. My insurance *** approved me for a conversion to the sleeve. After surgery ( last october) the surgeon said he took out the band but my stomach was damaged from the lapband and he wasn't comfortable doing the sleeve. I was so bummed. He said he could try again in 6 months. Which will be April. Do you guys think my ins will still cover it? I'm wondering how I can convince my *** that I need another surgery.

If they approved the sleeve but the doctor didn't do it, then I would think that it would still be approved since your surgeon *technically* only removed your band and never revised your stomach to the sleeve.

They should approve it, since it was approved previously. The surgeon didn't feel it was safe at the time. You may have to do additional paperwork though, because of it being in the new year--possible new guidelines, etc.

Good luck!

my initial approval was good for 6 months... if that time hasnt passed, you may not have to go thru the hassle again...if not, it may be just a matter of asking for extension of resubmitting same info.... I doubt if you'd have to do classes & psych stuff all over..maybe updated weight records...

good luck

I got it!! I got the approval for the sleeve!!! Here we go again. I'm going to wait a few more months just to make sure my stomach has fully recovered from the damage that the lapband did to my stomach. Yay!! ♥♥♥

I am SO happy for you!!! I couldn't get anything covered after they removed my band. I wouldn't wish that on anyone!!! I made the mistake of self paying to re-band since I had success up until the slip and erosion, but bands being the evil little things they are, I'm having a revision done too now after a lot of complications! Lol

What a huge relief!!! So happy for you!!!! :) let us know when you get a surgery date!!! The next few months will go faster than you think!!

Let me know when you get a surgery date. I'm May 11th, so we may end up pretty close after you heal!! :)
