Has anyone had leaks or any serious problems after surgery ? I'm booked for a sleeve on April 8 th and I have a friend trying to talk me out if it . I'm not scared only worried about leaks and how long do you run a risk of leakage is it for ever or until you heal .

6 weeks post op is what I was told for leak risk. Once the staple line scars over, you should be fine. If you do a site search on leak, you will find many threads discussing them. While rare, < 3% overall, it is a real risk. I do believe post-op compliance can lessen the risk, but not eliminate it.

Also there's a complications section of this site. You can see what others have been through. I think most leaks happen right away but you're still at risk until about 6-8 weeks.
