Day 4 Post-Op Gastric Sleeve Surgery

Recommended Posts

It seems incredible to me that I have actually done this! I just returned from Tijuana, Mexico where I had my Gastric Sleeve done by Dr Fernando Garcia at the Hospital MI Doctor. My sister drove me down to San Ysidro (right before entering Mexico) and a driver (Samuel) was arranged to pick us up to drive us across the border and then to the Marriott for the first night. Rosie greeted us after we were checked in and then gave a basic loose schedule for the next day. The next day a shuttle took us to the Hospital and all the preliminary stuff happened... blood tests, visits by all the doctors that would follow up and then the IV was administered. Shortly after that it was surgery time which for me was about 4:30pm. Dr. Garcia was a wonderful doctor and I can't believe how fortunate I am that God lead me to someone like him. He was very personable, humble, caring and competent. His team that works with him is also great and I will say a thousand times that I received quality and respectful care and service. So, it's now day 4 post-op and I am feeling pretty good. Went on a 45 minute walk up in the hills by my sister's house. I do remember how everyone pounded into my head that I needed to walk, walk, walk. It really does make me feel better. The discomforts that I have are mainly gas pains and I have not had a BM yet. Not too worried about it as I know this is a major change to my whole body. I've been so surprised at how satisfying just a bowl of chicken broth and a popsicle is to me right now! I am looking forward to seeing my health improve. Hopefully I will eventually be able to reduce or eliminate my Diabetic medication. Hopefully I will not have to start taking Blood pressure medication (as my GP told me I probably would this year) and hopefully I will not have to start taking cholesterol medication because my blood tests have come back with high cholesterol. Oh yeah! and I look forward to loosing weight!!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
