Mexicali Grocery shopping

Recommended Posts

Hey all --- has anyone who has been to Mexicali know if a grocery store is close by? Not a corner store, but a big one - a Ley or Gigante? My supply of vanilla is running low and I need to get some before I'm sleeved and unable to do anything :) I also want to pick up some Clight (Mexico version of Crystal light but with some great flavors), chile and lime chips for my brother and a few other things. Just thought I'd ask before I go down (March 7) but can always ask when I get there.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!

Alana :)

Hey Alanah, I suggest you check with your patient coordinator; she is sure to know several places to go within a reasonable distance from where you'll be staying. I don't remember seeing a big grocery store near the hotel/hospital, but I didn't venture out very far, either.

Congrats on your upcoming surgery, btw! :D

Thanks!! I did check with Nina but wasn't too sure if there was anyone else that has gone grocery shopping while down there as well. But since I posted this -- I found that Soriana is just around the corner from the hotel so that's where we will go our first night! Excited to have surgery -- I'm so ready for this to happen! I start vacation on Wednesday, flying to Florida for a week and will leave our little one there with Nanny and Papa and then I will fly out to have my surgery ... return 5 days later and have another week and a half in Florida to recoup and then fly home. I wish it could happen now! :)

I did *lots* of research for my revision and all led me to Dr. Aceves. I think I'm making a great choice as well as I've heard and read nothing but good things about him and the hospital. I'm just worried that I'll fail the sleeve like I failed the band. Fingers are crossed and I have a goal that I WILL get to!

I haven't been to Mexico since I was banded so I'm itching to go back ..... we used to go every year while growing up and I so miss it! Pretty sad I have to schedule a surgery to go! Hahahaa

:)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
