It was amazing, after I woke up from surgery, I was not hungry...ever again until last week! It's been oh...about 9 months....not hungry at all until recently. It was such a relief to wake up and sip Water and be full. Just hang in there. The salad is your friend. I remember I at those little grape tomatoes when I got really hunry just make it through. This last fill has helped with the hungries, but I'm not sure it was tight enough.

just realized i missed my 6 months anniversary friday. It has gone really fast, was hoping for more loss but I guess everyone feels that way along the way. Still trying to decide if i am too tight, very confusing on here when reading other sites. Guess I am at a plateau. Hope to be at the support meeting mon. that should get me motivated again. How long weeks worth, without a loss ??

Sounds like everyone is doing well. I believe our meeting is tomorrow night, it's the second Mon. 7:00 Wadley. Even those of you not banded are welcome. I hope to be there. It will make two trips to T-town, but I may still come.

Hogwild, hang in there. This is the worst part of the whole thing, pre-op diet is worse because you don't have the variety of liquids that you will work into post-diet. Drink lots of Water, get some good flavors to put in them. Also you can have sugarfree popcicles, pretty good when you want something to chew on. It will get a little better as the second week gets here. I think you get used to it. This helps to shrink your liver, so stick with it. We all have sympathy, we all had to get through it. I was probably the biggest weenie of all about it. I came right here daily for encouragement, got it too. Hang in there.

Hope to see everyone tomorrow night.

I don't think I will be at the meeting tomorrow night. I don't have a babysitter and my hubby has a softball game. Y'all let me know what I miss.

Hogwild, as stated before....the preop diet is the worst / most difficult. That first salad will be the best salad you've ever had in your life!! Hang in there, minute by minute if necessary. It helps to stay busy doing something.

Hello all. Didn't make it to the meeting. Hubby had to work late, and I had been there most of the day, too tired to drive back. Who went? Whoever went, fill those of us in that couldn't make it. I need to make the next one so I can get my 50# pin. I am a year out now. It's been slow but sure. I hope it picks up the second year. My leg/ankle is still improving but I am going to try to start a walking program soon. Maybe this will be a better year if I can keep from breaking any bones. lol

btw... still struggling if i am too tight. I cant eat in the morning and most of the time at lunch unless it is mushy or something i should be eating like sweets. some mornings are better. i guess this is normal?? I go back in three weeks. I hope this is why i havent been losing. I am going to give another three weeks and decide if this is the morning tightness or not. i do pb sometimes, i guess i should be doing liquids then mushies after i pb. do yall do this ?

TP - if you catch yourself eating things you're not supposed because it goes down easy, that's another sign of being too tight. As long as you're not throwing up more than once a week, you should be okay...at least that was Dr. K's instructions when I was too tight.

By-the-way Teresa, 52 pounds in six months, that is wonderful!!!! I've been banded a year March 7th. Our banding was 6 months apart. I'm just hitting the 50# mark. You have done SUPER!! I am moving along very slow but I guess it's movin. I think it's called "turtleing." lol

Take care.

Yall, I think I have a problem. After gettin that fill monday, I don't have any restriction to speak of. I don't know how much he put in, but I had more restriction BEFORE the fill. This is scary. I don't hurt, I'm not sick at my stomach, I don't cough at nite, and I don't think it's a slip, but it's just weird. He told me if I thought I might be too tight to come back and have some taken out before my next appointment (which is in two months), but I haven't been able to tell that there has been a fill at all. Guess I'll still have to wait and see what happens next week. It usually takes two weeks for my fills to kick in anyway. Guess I'm just jumping the gun.

Teresa, I try to take it easy after a PB. Liquids the rest of the day and then mushies the next. It just makes me sore and I don't really feel like eating anything for a while. But when I PB, it's a bad one. I haven't done it a lot, but when I do, it's "Katy bar the door" gross.

Yall have a good day. I get to hunt eggs in a bit and EASTER Party!

Stay in that box and away from that chocolate bunny!

lisa

Stress gets me lapband super tight! Evidentally, I'm a high stress gal too! This is my first "normal" fill with good restriction. I had a half a hotdog last nightand was stuffed last night. No bun or anything, and I haven't been majorly sick either! I need to check on Saturday and see if the scale is going to move this time!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
