lisa what size 8 or 10????? nope no dirt, just very busy. tue i was going to work after lunch and there was a big grass fire right in front of mothers so i stop and stayed with her until it was under control thankfully it didn't cross the fm road but it was close enough to the road we could see flames. then on thursday i took mother and 2 sisters to longview to be with their older sister which was dying. she died friday and visitation was tonite and the service is tomorrow, then next week me and maggie (the pup) go to our first dog class and tue and thursday is master gardening classes and then to top it all i have to go to osha training at the office on friday. but then maybe the weather will be good and things will slow down so i can play in the soil(dirt is not the right word)

hope every one is a good loser this week

Well sounds like you are a very busy woman. And since I'm not a master gardner, dirt is the word I use. lol (I wish I could stick my tongue out at you) :)

Teresa, I have size 4 in my closet. Yes, I said 4. I'm not even close yet, but some day...... I would like to be in a 6. lol That would put me at goal. I told someone that the size I'm in now is confidential information and will not be disclosed at this time, but rest assured when I get to single digits, EVERYONE will know. lol

Yall have a good nite and stay in that box!

Lisa,

I am doing fine. I am kinda of acting weird though because i am wanting to eat everything and i can taste about anything w/o getting sick. I feel kind of guilty too because i ate bread today! I too haven't been able to drink all the Protein Shakes and stuff.. I am so busy that i am not hungry/thirsty sometimes...How do i get pass this? I feel like I shouldn't be able to eat anything because i am just 11 days post-op!

Dawn,

Please remember..... you are 11 days post op. You have a band, yes, but there is nothing in it. The reason you have not been hungry before is because you have had swelling where the band is placed. The swelling has gone down and now you have hungry feeling all the time. This is the most difficult time right now. When you start getting fills, it will get better each time. But the most important thing right now, do not test your little friend. It has not "scared" into place. Yes, it is sutured in, but it will take time for it to heal.

Be sure to eat 3 meals a day. Don't skip any meals. If you skip a meal, the next one you eat WILL BE stored as fat. Drink your Water. Carry it with you. Set it on your desk or somewhere you will be able to see it during the day. It will remind you to drink. You can get past this. All of us here have been in your situation and we know how it is. Just keep a positive attitude and you will be ok. Believe me, I know how you feel. I had a lot of trouble at your stage being hungry all the time. This is the time where your will power MUST kick in. You have to be determined. I know you can do it. After all, you were wise enough to get a band. You knew that you had to do something. Now, you have the tool to help you. Don't leave it in the tool box. lol Hang in there.

Thank you soooooooo very much Lisa for your supporting words of encouragement. I so needed to hear this. I knew it in my heart that I could do it and so i just needed to hear it from someone who has been where I am right now. I do sincerely thank you. I am drinking liquids as we speak and I getting back on track again...This site is such a blessing..

Hi Dawn. Lisa is sooooo right. When you start the fill process things will get better. Now, some feel restriction before others as they get their fills. The opening to our stomach, (the area the band is placed around) is different for everyone. I didn't have restriction for a while, where as Lo2us had it immediately. The doctors do a little at a time which is a safer and usually more comforatable for the patient. All this aside, we understand you are still hungry! It really doesn't take the hunger away but it might help you understand what you are going through. I ate bread and almost everything else until about three two or three fills ago. I needed a lot of encouragement too. So I know where that's comming from. My process was much slower than most, and that is discouraging.....But just take care of your little tool, and it does get better. What you are going through is called "Bandster Hell." Can't say how long it last, it is different for everyone. You are in a healing process right now. Try not to lift, push, or pull for a while and let that friend of yours scar in place. When do you get your first fill? I guess you will be seeing the doc soon. If you have any questions, write them down, they will be glad to answer them. Hang in there girl, this is just the beginning of your journey. We are here for you.

One more thing, Dawn. The Water you are drinking will help flush out the impurities in your system. The more you drink, the faster you will lose.

I know you can do this....Once you get used to eating properly, it will be a cinch! You won't think a thing about it. It will just come naturally. I don't even count calories anymore. I just count Protein grams. I promise it will get easier.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
