Really hope I didn't mess this up.

Sleeved last Tuesday. Doing awesome. Down 33lbs. since I started liquids on 2/15.

Saw Dr. today. His plan originally said full liquids for another week, but he said I was doing really well, & I could "graduate" to Tomato Soup, etc.

He even gave me the go ahead to have a couple of glasses of wine when I go to Vegas in a couple of weeks! I was shocked by that.

So some friends wanted to take me to lunch today at a Thai restaurant. We went. I ordered a spicy broth. (No food pieces, just some spice....the place assigns all food 1-Star to 6-Stars (6 is the spiciest). I got my beef broth a 2 1/2. I are about 3/4C. felt fine then.

2 hours later....toilet time. Diarrhea. Stomach hurts.

I really thought that a little bit of spice was fine.

Could this spice give me a leak?

Worried about it.

Probably just didn't agree with you. Just sounds like an intolerance to me. I wouldn't worry. If you are... call the doctors office.

I was sleeved the 25th... I'm Having such a hard time getting all my Protein in.. i have shakes and unflavored Unjury powder that ive tried putting in stuff... it is NOT unflavored and it makes me gag everytime.. so ive been skimping on that... but i do try to get a shake down a day.. but thats only what 25 grams or protein.. :( frustrated

I was also sleeved in the 25th and having the same issue. I know I'm not getting in my fluids and protein. I get terrible gas pains every time I drink or eat anything. I have been trying to drink the Atkins shakes but I get so bloated. I'm lactose intolerant, I can no longer get yogurt. I'm looking for a lactose free Protein Powder. It is frustrating but I am positive that it will get better. It has to!

I'm a little over 2 weeks out and I'm down 18lbs from my last dr visit back on jan. 30th. Dr said that I'm doing good and have exceeded expectations. I will weight myself on my scale tomorrow morning and track my own weight since I will not have a follow up again until 6 months out. I'm hoping to get down another 15lbs by my bday at the end of this month.

Muscle Milk is lactose free is you wanted to give that a try. I'm lactose intolerant as well and Unjury protein powders work for me. Unfortunately there has been lots of trial and error as far as finding something that is both tasty and not gonna make me feel like exploding!! Lots of stomach aches and $ wasted. :-/

Thank you so much. I will be trying it. I am going to look into ordering sample packets of Unjury.

If you like chocolate....the chocolate splendor is great...especially when mixed with frozen bananas and a lil Peanut Butter. Packs a huge Protein punch. The strawberry sorbet is great too. Really glad I found that stuff.

I was sleeved on Feb16th. Things were going good until a few days ago. During my first 2 weeks after surgery I lost 20 pounds!! But since I started eating mushy foods 3 days ago, I gained 2 pounds!!! I am a bit discouraged right now...not sure what to do about this.

I see slit of people saying they still don't have any energy but I actually feel like I have more energy from having this surgery than before! Also I'm 3 weeks out today and started soft foods last week but I haven't puréed anything I just chew really, really well...just testing things here and there like scrambled egg, lunch meat (turkey, cheese, ham) grits, cheese and crackers, cottage cheese, refried Beans with sour cream and cheese, string cheese, veggie burger and Greek yogurt. What else are you guys on soft foods eating?

That is something that will happen due to the fact that you are adding foods to your diet.

It will balance out especially once you exercise. Stand firm...all is well.

Even before being sleeved, I was on a plan my FD devised. Once I started reintroducing foods that i had been off of, my weight did go up. And these were suggested foods. I didn't understand it at the time. But had I been persistent, it would have all leveled out.

Yes that's me. It was the gas pains. They were awful. I've never hurt like that ' date=' landerholm did my surgery. He was awesome. I'm doing good. Down 12 since that day. Stayed the same the last couple days. I'm just tired now. Having two Protein Shakes and a tiny bit of food takes a whole day to get down. How are you doing ?[/quote']

Landerholm did mine too! He was wonderful. So far I have been good. Don't know why but everything has been great so far. Tonight was my 1st issue as I ate my mashed potatoes too fast...yikes that hurt! Won't do that again. I guess I just have to learn some lessons the hard way hahaha.... my weight loss has been slow, only 5 lbs so far. Very frustrating. But my clothes are very loose so I know I am loosing inches, decided to not obsess on the numbers. I am so glad you are doing better, I thought about both of you a lot.

Wait... i did have a situation! I passed out when the anesthesiologist tried putting my IV in. When I woke up I was so relieved cuz I thought I was done with the surgery!! My best friend and husband were laughing so hard

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
