So I agonized over having this surgery for two years, trying diets, working out etc. Finally decided to do it, & was all set up to have my surgery on February 4th, but my new insurance BCBS Anthem as opposed to Empire BCBS that my company had last year, denied my surgery 3 days before I was to have it! We are in the appeals process right now, but it is sooooo frustrating! I was so mentally prepared for this, I had set up my FMLA, sick time, my wife took a weeks PTO to be there for me, we shifted our lives around for this moment and now it's just turned into a "sometime soon" scenario.

Anyone else have anything like this happen to them?

Wow...that's scary and very frustrating!! My insurance may shift around the time I should be eligible to request for authorization. I am very anxious about this...

I had everything in order to have my surgery in January, but was denied. I was then approved for Feb 4, and rescheduled everything (work, kids, hubby's work) for the 4th. Then my surgeon had to go out of town last minute! So...now I am scheduled for feb 18, and ONCE AGAIN have everything rearranged! I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Best wishes to you. Hope it all works out.

Yeah, i made the mistake of calling Anthem yesterday, and they told me it had been denied as "not medically needed". So i got myself in a really bad mood, lifted something the wrong way at work, and knocked my back out of whack.....Stupid move Keystone! then, I come to find out from my doctors office that theyre still working on it, and would I please stop calling the insurance company? Because you're messing things up mr. miller. So I'm letting them handle it. it may end up that i have to go through the whole 6 month weigh in period, and if I do, then so be it, but I'd rather do it right now if I had the choice.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
