Kristi girl you look GREAT!!! My band was covered by insurance so I didn't have to pay but $1,000 ($500 fee for program and $500 co-pay for hospital).

Manatee I think you're handsome, and you look great! I don't know what you're worried about. I'd be happy to be set up on a blind date with you! :D

Denise sorry to hear about that bad PB. I haven't had one that's lasted for hours. That can't be fun.

Congrats Derby girl on dropping a couple pounds this week! :Banane20: I went up one. :car:

Yvonne, no ugly ducks here on this thread! We're all swans!

I am new to this site and not really sure about all of the lingo. Pardon my ignorance, but what does PB mean?

No problem Shelb. PB = productive burp. I'm not sure why it's called that because it's not really a burp. For me, it's more like throwing up. If something gets stuck or if you eat too much, it's not going down it's coming up. It can be rather uncomfortable and sometimes you body produces foam to help the food work it's way up and out. That's my best explanation.

Well, I don't think I am going to do the timed 5K, I have to finish in 45 minutes, so I may just do the fun run, and if I finish I will be happy!! Thanks everyone for the compliments. Its fun to show off the body I haven't had since HS. LOL.

Manatee, you look so cute, you SO should be going out now!

Derbygirl, congrats on the few pounds! It seems so slow sometimes, but it will happen.

PigsR, Those nasty breakups are sometimes the bane of existence, but, you are on your way toward a better tomorrow. We all are. It will get better, and you will look back and think "what did I even SEE in him?"

Denise, Do you feel like you are restricted enough or too much? Maybe you are so restricted, (like I think I am right now) that you are getting so few calories your metabolism has slowed down. I know you have been saying that you have not been losing for months now. There has got to be something up with that

Well, if I forgot anyone, I apoligize in advance. I will be back later gators

Kristi

Shelb, How did you slip so soon? Was it doc error, or what? So sorry you had to be redone so soon!

Manatee, You look great!

Pigs R, You sound just like me. My BF and I broke up

2 1/2 years ago,and I still think about him everyday.

I am hoping that if I lose enough weight, I won't care

whether or not I have a man in my life. I will feel better

about myself, and that's the best goal!

Hi KristiB-

I'm not sure why my band slipped, but it wasn't anyone's fault. My stomach is weird apparently and the back side herniated up into my pouch and that caused the band to slip. It wasn't a pleasant experience, so I'm on the watch for other issues that may arise, although I'm hoping that none will.

Wow, Manatee and Kristi! You both look AWESOME!

I have some good news... I just finished my 6-week trainer program and lost 12 pounds and 11 inches!!! woohoo! I feel good... :)

and this time, I am GOING to keep it up! I want these pounds GONE.

My first boy (wasn't ever actually a boyfriend...) lasted my entire 1st year of college and when it ended HORRIBLY, I thought about him for at least 2 years and still talk to him every once and a while. Only now, I am past the pain, and only have friend feelings for him. More like nostaglia for a time in my life when I was going through massive changes. Five years later, and we talk maybe once every 3 months or so, but its not romantic at all... just old friends, and I like it that way!

So Matt and I are still going strong. I find it really REALLY hard to depend on someone else when I've been so independent for so long. It's really nice to have someone to hold me, but at the same time, I value my alone time. Every night I stay over, I think I become more attached, which is what I'm the most scared of. The more I allow myself to fall, the harder the landing will be if or when it ends. I have no idea what will happen to us when I leave for NYC on Sunday... all I know is, what I've had, what we've shared has been so good. This is by far the easiest relationship I've had, and the most comfortable I've been with someone ever. I hate waiting to find out if it is going to work out! Knowing the future would prevent so much un-necessary pain!

Denise, I know it's hard to let go of someone that has meant so much to you, but you have the right idea to love yourself first! If you learn to appreciate how wonderful you and how beautiful you are inside and OUT, someone else will find it easier to really get to know you and love you as well! Just stay strong and be selfish enough to help yourself first. :P

peace, everyone! :o

Yeah it sucks that there's always a huge risk with a relationship. But how you ever gonna know if u don't go for it? Wish you lots of good luck with it. Don't worry too much about losing your independence with this guy. If he really loves ya he'll give you some space that you need. Sounds like your happy :)

Good luck

Well I have an old flame sort of come back into my life. Known him for like 3 years. Never met him though and this time I believe thats going to happen. Just too damn curious not to find out. Hopefully this time he's grown up a bit. We'll see...but he's sooo a hot..heheh :)

So much for waiting for my fitness goals till I date again..LOL..well at least this one knows exactly what I'm all about so I don't have to worry he's not gonna like me for me. Although he's said the "don't loose too much weight" line..hmm..anyone else gotten this one before? He says he likes his women with some meat on their bones..well I don't think I'll ever be a barbie doll..LOL.

Lol Dibaby about the "don't lose too much weight.."

I heard that SO many times, and it kinda pisses me off- it's my body after all lol....

whatever- I would love to be a barbie doll, but I know that will never happen, so I'll stick to slightly curvy.

I told Matt I was losing weight and he was good enough to say, "I don't what to say about that.." he had enough sense to not make it a big deal. I just told him to be supportive and he said he could do that.

I guess that taking risks is what relationships are about, and probably why I never let myself get into one before.

Give the old flame another chance- like you said, you'll never know if you don't take risks- just don't let him walk all over you or anything. and if you wait for your fitness goals before you date, you'll always be waiting... fitness is now a constant in our lives. We'll always struggle with weight and fitness issues- sorry to say it- but it's just the truth. All we can do is take control of it. Good luck!!!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
