How long does the discomfort an nausea last? I'm really getting down about this, and hope you can help.

First off Welcome to the sleeve side. Everyone is different when it comes to the pain and queezies. Everyday you should start feeling a little bit better than the day before. As for myself it took about 7 days until I started feeling like myself again. Hang in there it gets better just takes a little time :-). Feel free if you have any questions to ask, we are all here for support and to help educate each other. Remember to sip your fluids all day when possible and walk even around the house to help with the gas pain, oh I forgot take some GasX strips they also help.

I felt really nauseous for about a 5-6 days. The discomfort lessened after the first 3-5 days and then was intermittent for the next 10 days. At 3 weeks out I feel great, but still get tired easily. I'm told this is normal.

Thanks for encouragement... This Is hard for me because I am a former Lap band patient that had a lot of issues.... So I am extra terrified that this could be a bad decision that I can't turnaround.

I was so nauseas from the minute I woke up in recovery (January 22nd) until about 2 days ago. They had me on a patch I wore behind my ear plus a liquid medication in had to choke back every 6 hours. My surgeon told me it was OK to try some eggs, cottage cheese, and yogurt which definitely helped, I think it was all the Protein Shakes were just really getting to me. Water doesn't go down well still, so I keep sipping G2 which seems more salty than before surgery but it is much better than the water for me. The good news is I am 30 LBS down since the 1st day of pre op diet Jan 8th. I think it will start to get better for all of us-this is way different than what I had pictured in my mind, good, bad or indifferent we need to try and get our brains around how real this journey is now!

I had my surg on 1-31 and on 2-1. Texted my husband that I didn't thinking was gonna pull outta this one. I could ever imagin eating again and felt like I was going to die. I had ton of nausea and pain. I thought it would be easy like my previous lap band. Not so. This was a Big surgery.i got a shot ofToradol and it changed everything. I was overly sedated on the narcotic, so try not to take too much pain med. as long as Water goes down, you'lll live! People are stranded for long times and survive on water! Don't stress and greasy on yourself. Get off the narcotic it really messes you up. Trust me I will take a Tylenol 3 for adore throat but this time I thinkmit is sabotaging my recovery.

I had surgery on 1/30 and I have not had much nausea but do have some pain and a lot of soreness and discomfort. Mainly at the biggest site where they removed my stomach. I have 20 staples total from the 7 incisions. Each day has gotten better. Gasx does help. I know it takes time for recovery! Hang in there. We are in this together.

I keep thinking I should be feeling better but I am only 2 days out and probably being to hard on myself, plus I have the oxygen tank that dries me out. Will be glad to get rid of that. I wake up with a head ache and dry nose from it so that makes me uncomfortable too. Coughing and blowing your noise is like having a busted rib or two. It really hurts lol. I know or hope we all survive these first few days and our lives will be better. From what I've read so far, I know that to be true, maybe with a few bumps along the way but life being better then before. Keep writing, its your words that keep me coming back here... :)

Everyone is different,it took me a week to feel decent, almost 2 Weeks before I could put my own shoes on. As for nausea,I had a patch behind my ear, which kept it at bay. Just take it easy, try to get your fluids first and foremost, dont want to end up in the hospital

I was sleeved Monday 01-28-2013 and I'm doing quite well myself! A problem I'm having is being sore on my stomach but that's expected. I stopped taking my pain Meds Wednesday and was driving Thursday and then went shopping Friday! I was exhausted when I got home Friday so I just rested for the rest of the night. I'm also having a problem getting all my Protein in. I'm so full from liquids that there's not enough room for protein. Anyone else having this problem? The left side of my stomach seems to be more sore than the right. Hope everyone is doing well and has a great weekend!!

Today is Monday! Surgery last Thursday. Thought I would die on Friday. Felt much better on Saturday and went home. Cleaned my house on Sunday. Drove my kids all over to sports and went to Target to get soft foods and chewable vitamins. Taking 1/2 the pain med dose at bedtime only. Feel fine. Had some Tums last night to relieve heartburn, but I am on pureed and had guac at the super bowl party. Drank Vitamin Water too! bI mean, I feel like resting, because resting helps to heal. I will rest most of this week, but the doc says cardio starts as soon as I can handle it- SLOW cardio. Yay!

Losing about a pound a day. Really need to up the Protein. Will get Syntha 6 tomorrow. That will encourage me cause it tastes great.Drinking 32 oz H20 and plan on doubling. Hard when there is no more gulping. This is way better than the lap band!

Very tired too, we do too much when we should lay low. We were cut on for goodness sakes. Lots of healing to be done!

P.S , hardly had any scar tissue and no erosion from my lap band. Dr. Runmbaut did good but me and lap band never made friends.

One of the many reasons I like this group is.... We can talk about ourselves, we can pity ourselves cause we are in pain. Growing up I was always told to deal with it and not make too much noise about it cause others really didn't want to hear about it. Here we do, we want to know how you are feeling, what you are thinking. Sometimes I need that "It's going to get better" from others. I need to vent once in awhile. We all want the spot light because this was a big choice for us and many of those that have never had a weight issue just don't understand. I purposely did not tell my relatives about this surgery because I didn't want to deal with their sometimes snide remarks so I've remained quiet on the home front. My son and his family live with me for the moment but I don't have the support I need. Today when I went out to get some Breakfast my daughter in law was eating pizza, and my son had brought home a box of doughnuts. He said he didn't think it would bother me but oh it did... I could smell them and my favorite was in the box. And I did the unthinkable. I cut off a wee piece and when I bit into it I prayed it would hurt so I wouldn't do it again. Yes it did hurt and no I didn't cut off another piece. Will I be tempted tomorrow? Probably because they are still sitting out there.. My daughter in law fixed beef stroganoff for dinner tonight and it smelled wonderful but I went back to my room and sprayed some air freshener so I couldn't smell it. Sighh at times I wish I still lived alone cause then I'd have control over what is in my home lol. But back to the original reason I started this, We are all here for each other, Vent if you want to vent, complain about your pain if it makes you feel better, Just know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE and I for one am here for you, as are many others to listen, to suggest, to be your friend if you want one. If it weren't for this group I would think that each day is going to be worse...Not better. I print big cause I wear reading glasses and I'm sure there are others that can't quite read the fine print so want others to know as well

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
