Ha, if that's the case he should already know how easily people are sued these days over emotional distress, but in the case he doesn't, I'd find the best lawyer I could to fight him in court if you wanted to pursue it that far. Maybe mentioning that he should know how easy it would be to take him to court and have a very convincing argument for your case against him.

Disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer, nor do I work in civil or case law. I work in law enforcement, and deal with people who have been through these things and during that experience I've spoken to numerous lawyers and law firms attempting to get victims the help they need and set them on the right path. Don't take anything I say a legal counsel, for your sake.

What amazes me is how OTHERS try and make YOUR decision about them!!!! What it is is that they are afraid that now that you have made a decision to Do something to change they will be left behind because WE ARE IMPROVING OURSELVES!!! Keep your head up never let them see you sweat!!! Let them EAT THEIR HEARTS OUT, when the weight starts falling off!!! Good Luck!!!!

That is just so messed up that they showed that video. So unprofessional! I don't even have words. I'm sure it merits some sort of law breaking. I know how you feel I'm sure we have all had the people who put their two sense in and it's obnoxious. I appreciated the pro and cons people gave me in the beginning, but right before my big day?!? Come on ! I need positivity and support.

Wow I can't believe they did that! Is that even legal what they did? I never thought about it before now, but I am glad I work where I do. A few people have already had bypass surgery and they were very supportive of what I was doing. Sorry to hear this has happened to anybody, I think you should talk to a lawyer about it......

Sorry you have had such a bad experience. Just like when you are on a diet, there are always people who say things and do things to throw you off. Many different reasons, the thin ones don't get it, the overweight ones want company being overweight. I have been fortunate, most I have told have seen my struggles and support me. Some are afraid for me but understand. I just tell those that I am facing two knee replacements if this weight continues, much worse than laproscopic sleeve surgery. I am disabled, and I have tried and tried on my own. I am 65 and have to use a walker and frankly I just don't care what people think about the surgery, it is for me and my health. It is harder when you are younger. Those that might oppose me, I just feel like Satan is trying through them to stop me from being more able to help with my ministry for God. I was happy to see in your last post you have come to realize those people do care but it still hurts. Good for you and good luck on your surgery.

Punkin,

I think speaking 1:1 with the boss might be more profitable than threatening to hire a lawyer - they are pretty expensive. The first thing a lawyer would ask you is what steps you took to rectify the situation. Speaking to him professionally, then a letter sent certified mail, etc. Hopefully you wouldn't need more than the discussion. Small offices are tough. I work in department of 18, in a hospital of 8000. The 8000 don't care and the 18 don't know yet as I told no-one before hand.

I do wish you the best!

Call a lawyer. Consultations are free. They can tell you over the phone if you have a case or not.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
