Today i found out that i streched my pouch

Recommended Posts

Well she is definitely not making up the doctor, as i used the same one! and based on my experience I could see something like this happening.... My experience was really bad too, though I am happy that I lost 90 lbs so far , it wasn't worth the risk almost losing my life and putting my poor family through all of that.

My surgeon didn't do a post op leak test either. It was done in the OR before closing.

It surprises me to hear of so many people who didn't have any post-op leak tests. I had two (and one in the OR).

In northern va. My surgery was at 9 I was in revelry u til 4. Woke extremely hungry but the urad wouldn't let me eat until the doctor came. He didnt come until the next morning he told me I didn't have to take the leak test and I could eat. I had two cups of chicken broth and one orange Jello and a cup of lemon crystal light. I will remember this forever. And that is be ause the nurse kept telling me I was the only one able to eat and walk for 20 mins or more. I litteray felt like I hadn't had anything done. I thought it was because of my age and because I have never been a lazy person. I'm a do it your self type girl.

I would visit another surgeon office because that just don't sounds right! Did you pay out of pocket? Research that surgeon! Either he didn't know what he was doing or he didn't do anything at all.maybe he just took a look around inside and closed you back up. Something isn't right! What is the doctor full name what state did you have surgery at?

I didn't have a leak test either.

Just imagine if you went through the entire process only to gain weight. How would you feel?

I am really disheartened to see how many posts in this thread are focused on the veracity of the OP or fighting with each other rather than trying to address the problem she asked for help with.

As far as the ability consume more than the average sleever:

According to the research I have done in prep for my sleeve although most doctors use a bougie (with really small differences in size between each one) for width, someone who has a longer stomach will have a greater capacity. Further I was able to drink my juice and Jello and the only reason I left the broth was because of the taste 24 hours after my sleeve.

I had my surgery at a center of excellence by a well-known and respected surgeon, No leak tests done.

I was on full liquids including cream Soups as soon as I came home from hospital.

I never took any pain medicine after the first 24 hours when the pump came out.

I think the the posters who mentioned excess calories and Protein may be on to something. In addition if the OP went on a no carb liquid diet pre surgery and dropped weight ..then it is very likely when she started eating those excess calories and protein (and probably carbs) her body started hanging onto Water. Think Atkins diet.

Yesterday when I added up my calories I was in shock, I even remarked to my daughter that it was hard to believe I was sleeved.

I also have have a almost month stall and am refiguring calories, carbs etc..because of it.

I come here because you all are the experts on VSG...if we cannot get advice, support and understanding here I don't know where else one should go.

I assume everyone is honest and reaching out for help, if I am wrong, so what? It has cost me nothing.

OP I hope you keep posting and many people will try and help you work through this.

LadyJ that last (or near last) line was so valuable. You assume that people come here for help with the truth and if you're wrong, where's the harm? That's so true. This gal had a bad experience. They happen. They happen all the time. There are many of us here who have had them at centers of excellence after researching and preparing, they still happen. You don't want to believe it? Move on by then. (not you dear, the posters who have to post the crap).

We have someone else here who had a horrific experience with the same doc. I'm not surprised to see that they blew two cases after reading her story. (Sleevealicious). She went through hell and got very little support from her docs. In fact for most of the bad cases you read here, doctor support was a major factor (it was in mine and the "horror" story that was posted recently). I'm so glad that is unimaginable for many, but for those who suffer, why kick them when they're down? It makes zero sense and stinks of mean girl syndrome :(

I had my surgery performed at a bariatric center of excellence (Kaiser) and I didn't have a leak test either(besides the leak test they do during the operation). Like a few other posters stated the leak tests do not lessen the chances of a person developing a leak. I remember during my pre op classes they beat into our heads how they "staple and cauterize"..."staple and cauterize" ...seems like I heard that every week for 12 weeks lol...I guess that was their pitch to convincd ua that leaks are highly unlikely with their technique *shrugs shoulders* but I've have ZERO complications...down 61 lbs since including prepop..sleeve on 11/14

Please please tell me again who this surgeon is who botched these two ladies sleeve surgeries? I'm just paying my 750 down payment Thursday and I'm having it done with Dr. Cabrera in TJ Mexico at the MiDoctor. I'm getting freaked out, I'm a single mom of 3 great kids, I'm all they have I need to pick a reputable surgeon. Not like we all don't have too, I've never done anything for me before. I turn 50 this year and my oldest son is getting married.

Slow down there chicken Little, the sky isn't falling just yet. No one really knows what happened here yet and it's WAY too soon to start blacklisting surgeons before the whole story is brought to light.

The OP didn't have her surgery in TJ so this tale of woe shouldn't cause you any additional surgeon angst.

I had an appointment with my surgeon today and showed him this post. He thought it was very funny and said there is no possible way that at 7 weeks the stomach could just suddenly stretch. He said it stretches slightly over a period of 12 months.

He was really happy with my weight loss though but said I need to eat more.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
