Increased water+protein= 11pound this week!

Recommended Posts

I am 3 days post surgery and I am starving. I hate chicken and beef broth. Please note that I am during the Clear Liquids now. I thought the hunger pains would go away? Also, I've gained weight.

Please don't be discouraged. You are so early out that your body still has Fluid & air built up from surgery. I'd recommend waiting about 2 weeks out before weighing yourself again. This will allow your body time to release the retention build up. That scale can also make you crazy so please be sure to take measurements as well for those days when the scale doesn't move at all. Good luck & welcome to the Loser's Bench!

Thank you! I upped my Protein and Water this past as well and lost 4 lbs! It's not 11, but it's going in the right direction! More water and back to two Protein Shakes and food protein every day. Add in the exercise and we may finally be into something!

Well this is very encouraging, I will be 3 yrs out Dec 11th, did really good keeping the weight off, lost about 80 lbs at 7 months out and then just stopped loosing, I did however keep it off. About 8 months ago I started eating more and feeling alot more hungry, I am even able to hold more food in my stomach, almost not feeling any restriction. So with that being said I have gained back 10 lbs and I am very unhappy with myself, I try to count my cals using My Fitness Pal, I do good all day until the evening and then I start snacking on large amounts of nuts, chips, crackers and Peanut Butter, I don't eat breads or sweets. I don't really drink Water I drink alot of coffee.. I am going to really try to increase the water and Protein and cut back a little on the coffee.. Do you flavor your water or drink just plain water? Thanks everyone's input here is really encouraging..

What did you up

Your Protein to? Also did you workout? If yes, how many days a weeks, for how long, and what did you do?

I am 4 years out from my surgery in Dec 2012. On Dec 29th, 2016 I got on the scale and noticed my weight was slowly climbing. I was back up to 172.6 pounds. My average weight is 155 pounds. I increased my Protein to 120 grams( I have yet to meet this daily goal, but I'm close) and I'm drinking at least 100oz of Water. I weighed myself this morning and I'm down to 161.2 pounds in just 5 days!!! I am back to weighing my meats and not drinking juices. I feel so much better going back to the basics. I'm going to start seriously exercising/weight lifting in the morning again (haven't done this in over a year). My goal is to break my plateau of 155 pounds and get down to my initial goal weight of 140 pounds. Good luck and God Bless to everyone. WE CAN DO THIS!

I'm 17 days post surgery and have lost 16 lbs. For four days my weight was the same and yesterday I gained 1.8 lbs. I'm getting in the Water and fluids, but the Protein shakes are reeking havoc on my intestines. The outcome is not good. I tried cheese and Peanut Butter (not together) and that stays down much better. eggs don't seem to work well with my system either. I'm worried that I won't lose any more weight or I will continue to gain. I'd hate to have gone through surgery and only lose 16 lbs. I'm walking 30 minutes 7 days a week. I don't feel hungry, but I know I need to eat. I'm open to any suggestions. Please help.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
