Any February Sleevers 2013

Recommended Posts

Oh really? But yes, we'll definitely meet up at the hospital. I'm still nervous about the transition to a new lifestyle but I'm excited to meet others who can relate. :)

I don't think I'm as nervous about the transition as I am the actual surgery itself. I'm ready to be a skinny chic, but afraid of going under the knife.

Scsleever will be there a day ahead of us. Very nice lady. I've agreed to meet up with her as well.

I'm coming alone. I can't possibly trust my 4 kids (even though one is technically an adult) to be home alone, so my husband is staying with them. I'll be glad when the whole process is over, but I'm glad that I've finally found someone to go thru this with.

I was nervous about surgery before because I'd never had surgery but then at the beginning of Jan I had to have my gall bladder removed and I was all alone. It made me nervous but in the end everything was fine so this time I'm trying not to get worked up about it.

Like you my husband has to stay home with our boys but I *might* have a friend coming, she's trying to make it happen. Either way I'm ok with it.

I'm definitely ready to be "skinny" but I try not to get too exited about that either because I don't want to set unattainable goals or let myself down. I also want to try and remember this wont be easy because originally that was my mindset.

It really will be awesome to meet you ladies though, I'm sure we have a lot of common experiences and emotions about our struggles.

@StephF89 Hello. Sorry I wasn't on here yesterday looking at the Superbowl! However, my surgery is on the 15th of February and I am a self paying patient. Insurance wouldn't cover, so I had to do it on my own!

Which Dr are you going to? Mine's the 15th as well :)

Hey fellow February sleevers. I was sleeved on the fourth and should hopefully be going home tomorrow. I was suffering from anxiety before the surgery but as they were putting me to sleep I told myself to just let go. My only suggestion to the rest of you is to just follow through and don't think about it because anticipating the unknown only adds to the worry. Save your heavy thoughts for after.

Was a rough first day. I was in a lot of pain but at no point did I regret it because I know how much this will mean to me. I joked about regretting it to my husband i but didn't actually. In fact since I don't really feel differently in really haven't even been able to believe that I HAVE done it. I'm still coming to terms with how strong I turned out to be. Lol that's kind of silly huh? I'm finally experiencing the excitement about my new life. I do not miss what I am leaving behind.

I have my questions to explore now. New way of treating my food to learn. Much to do but looking forward to it all. I have discovered that the best feeling in the world is when a life long dream becomes a reality, pain and all.

I'm scheduled Feb 27th w/ Dr. Garcia. Excited and scared at the same time.

I can certainly relate to the feelings that others are posting. As my surgery gets closer (Feb. 21st; Dr. Garcia), I'm in a swirl of emotions. Sometimes I'm excited and hopeful; other times I'm frightened at the prospect of surgery and possible complications. Throw in a dash of "how will my life change"...and you get the picture!

It helps a lot to know that Salsha and JeniM73 will be there, too (their surgery is the day after mine). We'll encourage each other to walk, walk, walk!

I've done ok on my liquid diet today. Got some new products, which has helped me to do better today. Its tough, that's for sure. I am soooooo tired! 14 more days and I will be on my way to Tijuana. The closer it gets the more nervous I become.

My mother has been giving me a really hard time about my decision. She told me that she doesn't agree or support the surgery. She told me to eat 3oz's at a time. Well.....I could do that IF MY STOMACH WAS SMALLER! I'm so excited for my life to start after the surgery. My job has a big fundraising event every year in April and I want a dress that I feel good in. I have two weddings to attend this summer and want to look nice. I turn 40 in July and refuse to be fat at 40. I can't wait for this to start.

My mom isn't supportive either. She thinks I could do Jenny craig etc. And like you just eating smaller portions yada yada

I told her she needs to be supportive or just not talk to me about it

Good luck

I'm supposed to start my liquid diet tomorrow but I'm still sort of unclear on what I can and can't have. I've already emailed my coordinator twice but didn't want to ask a third time like a dummie. Because I have a high BMI (46) I have to do the liquid diet for two weeks, followed by the clear liquid for three days. The write up I got about the diet has parts that seem to be broken English. I don't know if I'm supposed to be eating puréed food the size of a baby food jar or actual baby food lol. I also have no idea how much I'm supposed to eat or not eat. It says rice, noodles, mashed potatoes, fruit etc. is that all puréed? I also don't know if I'm supposed to start the Protein Shakes and Vitamins now or after surgery. Someone please help as I have to start tomorrow! Thanks in advance.

I've been doing a lot of shakes that have a high Protein base. I've ordered several products from the internet to try so I can have some variation. I've added in a couple of high Protein Bars each day. But even with the variation it can get boring, especially the shakes. So I really try to do other things, away from food, so that I can keep myself busy. Oh yeah, try freezing sugar free Jello. Its really good frozen.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
