Getting Sleeved 1-29-13

Recommended Posts

Hey girls. I think I'm over the gas pains but 2 of my incisions still hurt. They are just tender and since I have a cold it hurts to cough. They are bruised pretty good but the bruises aren't huge. I don't even want to get on the scale yet. Lol! Are y'all wearing a binder around your stomach? I think it helps. I'm just sip sip sippin on Water right now. :)

Thanks for the binder reminder. I got on the scale preop 215 now 206.

Sent from my SCH-I535 using VST

Nice! I'm going to wait a few days since I had so many fluids pumped in. I feel weird without my binder now! I actually may replace my binder w/ spankx when I go back to work.

I wasn't given a binder, what is that? I have something to wear on my legs when I'm laying down. I've been ok getting broth down. My Dr lets me use a heating pad which helps the soreness on my tummy. Gas x strips are helping with bloated feeling. I'm glad we are all posting and going through this together. As bad as I felt the first two days, I still feel it was worth it. We will get past this hump! I got on the scale today...started at 219.6 at home now at 212.4

Did you purchase the binder ahead of time or did the hospital provide you with it? I'll have to ask my surgeon if he supplies you with one!

Hospital provided the binder. I woke up with it on. Keeps your stomach in and puts pressure on the incisions. It feels good to me. I'm sure you could purchase them at a medical supply store but ask you doc if he uses them....the one thing I've learned from this blog is every doc is different! Some are drastically different!

I did not receive a binder also. But I am thinking to go buy one so it can help me. I feel good just it's when I get up and down from the bed but besides that I'm good and ready to loose weight

It helps a lot with getting up and down from the bed. Funny that I woke up at the exact time my painkillers are due. My tummy is rumbling away. Assuming its thirsty?! And recovering?

I'm looking for you to give me inspiration. I'm in San Antonio too. I start my pre-op diet Monday. I am with Dr. Gonzalez scheduled for Feb 18th. I will be at NE Baptist. Keep us posted on how your recovery goes.

Lol I wake up at the same time also my painkillers are due. My stomach is growling like crazy too and I feel gas in there still but I also had a hernia so I'm guessing that's more painful

Jennifer, I had a hernia repaired too. Nurses said it would take a good week or so to get rid of all the gas. Could be both I guess. Are you getting your liquids in? Today's the first day I'll be tracking it.

I am not getting all the liquids in as of yet. I'm doing it today I'm home all day so I think it would be better. I already drank about 3 oz of Water since this morning every 15 mins. I am also doing Protein Shake so I'm good I think and Jello

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
