you cant think about food the same way after surgery...............food is fuel, a necessary nutrient for healing, weightloss and maintainance....

Go with a turkey or chicken burger and lowfat cheese........no bread! Change your thought process on food! Think of how to make your favorite stuff BETTER, less fat and calories....its kind of fun!

Good Luck.

I had my first social lunch and just said that I was watching my diet and had a Protein Shake so i wasn't very hungry, I then took the dessert to go and gave it to one of my kids (mini dessert from Olive Garden). This seemed to make it seem normal and no one asked questions.

Before and after surgery, I hate when people are concerned about what I'm eating!

It's weird huh?? My husbands best friend was sitting across from me and kept putting his fork across the table to and was trying to get me to eat bites of his cake!! I felt bad because it seemed to make him sad that I wouldn't ... Finally I got up to to the other side of the room because a friend had a baby and I was going to steal it (not to eat it FYRE) but damn if they weren't feeding that baby cake! 0_o

Then being on this website is like a ticking time bomb for you....and don't even think about MyFitnessPal. I got a PM the other day on there because someone noticed I ate a kit kat. Holy Jeeez....the kit kat police.

Hmmm maybe I should become a MFP troll.

If you got that kind of free time on your hands I could stir up some controversy here for you. I don't mind.

Glad I don't have any MFP friends.

I am on MFP and am honest about what I eat. So if I eat something I shouldn't, so be it!!! I'm an adult and can make my decisions. So far, I';m surprised something hasn't been said about my lack of exercise. Just not feeling great right now.

The thread that I about anything but cheese burgers. I am taking bets how long this thread lives. It covers everything! :)

If you are wanting the cheese for Protein, use 2% American or cheddar. I can/do eat about 3 oz of lean ground meat, I normally do not add a cheese slice just because I don't want the additional calories. If we are OUT, I might eat a bite with a bun, but normally, out or at home, I don't eat the bread. I dip in mustard, eat a pickle or two. So, I eat 'a hamburger' sans bun!! :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
