Hi MK,

I'm in New Orleans but I saw the nutritionist that was associated with my surgeon (Dr. Lavin). I had to pay out of pocket for my visits.....

Yep, $80 for the first visit, then $60 for the next 3 visits. You may be able to file it to your insurance company yourself...which doc are you using?

Dana I forgot to ask....who schedules your surgery? The nurse or patient advocate?

I believe it's the patient advocate. She gave me a few dates to choose from.

Oh ok...how long did it take you after insurance submittal to get a date?

I will be finish on Feb 15th with my paperwork. The advocate told me that my surgery date might be the first week of April. Why such a wait..?

What is your insurance? Are you going through a 3 or 6 month diet program? Does your pre-op requirement end on Feb 15th (if you have one that is)?

I have Aetna -- they required a 3 month diet program which I completed on 11/14. I think they submitted the paperwork on 11/15 and got the approval on 11/30.

I just got my EOB --- my out of pocket for Aetna is $1500 but I also have Blue Cross Federal as secondary so I don't know how much that will knock off of it. Check your policy to see what your max out of pocket and deductible will be?
