How are all the December sleevers doing this week? Any successes or challenges? I have been traveling and it is hard to get the 90-100 grams of Protein a day or even exercise. Lost a couple of pounds this week.

I am currently in a stall. I'm not too worried about but it is disappointing. I will try to drink more Water and maybe add more veggies?

I just broke a 3 week stall this morning I was up and down between 223-227 yes a 4 lbs up and down moment but for the last 3 Mondays in a row i weighed in at 224 then 223.8 then this past Monday at 225.6 smh it depressed the heck out of my so i lowered my carbs and increased my Water and switched from chicken back to fish and as of today I am 222.2 yes! The stall is officially broken and the scale is moving again, I know we shouldn't weigh in every day but heck i was loosing it over here and i saw it go as high as 227 and then i lost it lol its all good though i made changes, However my calorie intake is very poor and could hurt me in the long run I will be more active as of this Monday the 11th so I will increase it back up to 600 to 800 and as much as I HATE Protein Shakes i will be adding those back in because my protein intake is very low its usually 42 a day the shake will brink it up another 25 so i will force it in me as much as i hate it it will also bring my calories to 616 a day because right now its only 412 and that's not good at all, However on most days all I do is lay in bed and do nothing so since I will be going back to a very active job as of this Monday I will need the increase in calories since my job burns so many calories with all the walking I do. I will also start exercising 3-4 days a week so the low calorie intak may only harm me instead of help me. I am happy for now though, This whole eating right thing is new to me i'm learning my body as I go through this lifestyle change and I pray that when I reach my goal i maintain it, I dont ever want to go through this again!

I hit 275 on 1/19 and worked my way down to 271.. Then gained back to 272... Ive been hovering there for 2 1/2 weeks! So yesterday i took someones suggestion and had a crap food day to simply raise my cals. I normally get in 7-800 a day so yesterday i made it up to 1300. I woke up this morning having gone from 272 to 270.8 :) hopefully i tricked my body into giving up a few more pounds! I was hoping to hit 250 by the first of March but its not looking too promising at the moment.

297 day of surgery on 12/31

270.8 today - 2/7

26.2 lost since surgery

I am going to a support group tonight and there should be people who have had different surgeons than mine. In any case, one of the things I want to talk about is why you (for example) would be told 90-100 grams of protein when I am still between 60-70 grams of protein...and frankly, i have trouble getting to 60-70, so I would lose my mind trying to get to 90-100. I really hate protein these days. I can only eat/drink Greek yogurt or a Tbsp of Peanut Butter and not feel uncomfortable. Everything else I have tried: fish, chicken, tofu, etc. makes me uncomfortable and takes all the "joy" out of eating it.

I'm stuck this week, too. Have been at this weight for 5 days, and have a feeling it will be longer. I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing, which is 600-700 calories a day, getting in all required Protein and Water, as well as all Vitamins. I exercise at least 5 days a week. I've made up my mind that it will come off when my body is ready and not before, so I'm not stressing anymore. I realized I can't set goals either because there is nothing else I can do to influence it - I'm doing everything I can and I'm good with it! Have a great day!

My doctor has always said he wants me at that level of Protein, he said that it maintains my muscle mass. I have to use 2 Protein Shakes a day to hot it and the rest from food. I can tolerate most food except beef, and eat land o frost lunch meat quite a bit, and tolerate it well. If you are on my fitness pal, you can add me to see what I eat rsmont77

Do you have trouble with Protein Shakes? I make one every morning -- it takes literally 1-2 minutes - and it's delicious. I get 30 grams of protein right off the bat! If I start with a shake I can get to my goal of 70 grams really easily. I also get uncomfortable with almost all dense protein, although a baked piece of softer fish goes down pretty easily. I can also handle scrambled egg whites really well -- low low calories and lots of protein. Most everything else that is not on the soft side feels like I swallowed a brick within 2 bites.... and yes, it does take the joy out of eating... which for me, might not be a bad thing! :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
