Help from my fellow VSGers

Recommended Posts

Happy holidays my fellow sleevers. I am in need of some motivational help. I have gotten off track and having a difficult time getting back on. I have stopped going to the gym each day, I have stopped eating healthy, and eat more than I know I should be eating. I have not done any permanent damage I am sure, but will if I don't find the motivation to get back. The holidays have been especially difficult for me since my children were not able to come home this year. I do not think I am eating emotionally but who knows at this point. The hurt feeling of eating too much does not happen too much anymore:( This is where you all come in, words, prayers, you name it I need it.

I agree about journaling your food intake.

Well first you caught it early so that is a good sign. I also second the logging of food.< /p>

I think you must remember why you had the surgery...was it to feel better...get healthier. Don't give up on yourself...you went thru a major surgery...don't blow it! Stay on track...get your head back on straight! Use this surgery as a tool to get back on track. Hang in there! It is a journey!

I see your picture and you are drop dead gorgeous. Of course there are tons of reasons beyond looking good, but gurllll, you got to keep diligent to keep all you worked for.

I have not yet had my surgery but I kept hearing people on here talk about journaling their food so I thought I would start before surgery to get in the habit. I have tried several ways, in a note book, in a date book, on my computer and wasn't very diligent in keeping track of my food. Then I walked into my local Vitamin world store and saw this journal book it's called "Diet Minder Personal Food & Fitness Journal" It has everything in it that I have heard we need to keep track of. Its small enough I can carry in my purse and big enough I can write in it and even read what i've written....lol I got it when it was a members special & only paid $5.00 for it on their website it's $14.95 but I feel it's defiantly worth the money. Now I have no excuse not to journal it's too easy with this book.

I send good wishes & prayers your way to get you back on track and keep reading VST it has given me a lot of good information, idea's and support. Sorry the web site is: www.memoryminder.com

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
