If your issue is muscular where they took out the stomach then you should start seeing incremental improvements soon. Maybe you don't hurt as much when getting up or down. Maybe you can walk a little faster. Maybe you can bend just a tad lower than the day before. Really pay attention to see if there are tiny improvements. Just two days ago I was gingerly getting into a car. Today I got in and out without much thought. Granted I forget that I'm not 100% and twist the wrong way. But the intensity of the pain is far less now. Do keep in touch with your surgeon though in case it could be something else. Sending healing thoughts your way!

Glad they finally helped you.

Drs can be real bullies when it comes to easing our pain with prescription pain meds.

I sure hope you start to feel better.

The ease in pain from the prescription should help relax your muscles.

Praying that you will have a quick recovery and pain will become a distant memory. Happy new year!

I agree with iggy. I think it's time to get a second opinion. Maybe try another WLS Dr in your area, or in Dallas? This does not seem normal at all.

I hope you find the relief and answers your looking for, and have a happy belated holiday.

If you do any searching on this topic you will find there are people dealing with this. Both immediately after surgery and weeks later after over doing it. All I'm saying is just because someone hasn't experienced it or heard of it doesn't mean it's not normal. I was told when I left the hospital about this possibility about the muscle pain. ( if she is experiencing what many of us are going through)

Tutu I'd agree, but also say that no one has to suffer the level of pain she is suffering. There's no reason not to prescribe something that will help her out some. At least that we know of. Some docs are so conservative on drugs it's ridiculous. Some go overboard. There is a happy middle road that could help this poor gal out.

If it were diabetes, bp, Migraine, etc.

She would get meds.

Dare mention you are hurting and you get nothing?

No one should suffer unbearable pain. We have medicines for that.

Yes, I did bring up muscle relaxer... I can't get past the medical assistant, she has her script down perfect... "We usually tell patients Blah blah etc etc"... She has said the exact same thing every time I've called. When I started crying with pain and frustration, she refilled the liquid pain prescription. It's allowing me to get out of bed now, but not much more. It's just frustrating when they tell you to listen to your body, but they won't listen to you, or so it seems to me. It's been over a week, ready to feel improvement any day now...the sooner the better. It's just a bit of a setback, albeit a painful one...but I know there is worse out there than me...

Glenda, did you have your surgery at Forest Park?

I would call the number on the paperwork and speak to someone.

Perhaps Dr. Nicholson (sp?) hasn't been informed of your pain.

I'm willing to bet he would want to see you.

I am hoping he would! He is a very well known Dr.

Have only heard good things about him. Try to reach him!

You shouldn't be hurting like this :(

Glenda, you are fully within your rights to tell the PA that you will not speak with her again and you INSIST on speaking with the doctor. You should do this now hun. This is not appropriate patient care. She has little diagnostic training verses her physician who has significant training in that area. Tell her in no uncertain terms that you wish to speak with the doctor. If he's busy ask that he call you at his earliest convenience but don't elaborate further. You have to be firm in this hun. If you can't do that, have your spouse do it for you.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
