Across the border from Texas?

Recommended Posts

Any good doctors? Going to the Baha (tip) seems more costly? Or am I just confused about the locations?

Where is Sanchez and Dr. Ram'?

I had surgery 7/6/06 by Dr. Zapata in Monterrey, an excellent doctor, very kind and compassionate. the hospital was immaculate and the care was very good. Dr. Zapata's associates help take very good care of you. you can email me privately if you want.

I'm also thinking of going to Mexico (from Texas) - do you have the website for Dr. Zapata? Also, how long before and after do you have to stay there?

I went to Dr. Rodriguez in Acuna which is just on the other side of the border from Del Rio. It is about 2.5 hours from San Antonio. I flew to San Antonio from Dallas and his patient coordinator picked me up at the airport and took us across the border to the hospital. It was a wonderful experience. They treated us so nice. I would do it again in a heartbeat. My sister went with me and had a blast. We enjoyed the patient coordinator, Barbara and the other two patients that had surgery that day.

I'm going to be banded by Dr. de la Garza in Monterrey in December, and I was told I didn't need a pre-op diet either. His assistant Stephanie said that it is typically done for operations in the states, but it isn't necessary. I don't know if I should do it anyway, just to be safe?

I had my surgery done in Monterrey Mexico. It is about 3 hours from the Laredo, TX border. So it was really close. We could have driven but we just flew right in to Monterrey Airport, and the hospital chofer came and picked us up. We had a great time. It was the best experience of my life. I was a self pay, and it was only 8,000 and that includes everything with the hospital and the follow up visits. So I would definitely recommend it. My surgeon was Dr. De la Garza and I went through www.litenfree.com. I was very impressed since it was my very first time to go to Mexico. The hospital was beautiful and I had a wonderful time.

Email me if you have any questions molliebeth.smith@yahoo.com.

I am considering having the lap band surgery. I am open to qualified docs in Mexico( although I do have some convincing with my hubby). My greatest fear is extra skin. I need to lose about 90-100 to be at about 150-160. I am 5'6". I would be completely happy there. Any comments about the extra skin?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
