  1. I'm 12 days out today, and my diet is still all clear liquids until Friday. Until about two days ago, I wasn't even hungry, but now-- I'm starving, and chicken broth just isn't doing the trick. As far as discomfort, I picked up my 25 lb nephew about 3 days after surgery, and that wasn't the best of ideas I have ever had. I learned very quickly that the "no lifting" rule is a good idea Other than that, and trying to sleep on my stomach, my pain has gone away.
  2. I had this two to three days after surgery too. I just kept thinking about how I had let things go for so long and I was already missing food (and Diet Coke). But here I am a week after, and doing great! Stay strong! It will get easier! Christy
  3. This thread is very helpful for me. I am in the final count down days with everything prepared and ready for surgery, but I am starting to over-analyze and have second thoughts. I'm glad to know that this is completely normal
  4. Hi Cherie, I'm getting a little nervous too!! I am being banded on December 21st, and although I am confident I am doing the right thing (one that I have wanted to do for years)- the final count down is making my nerves go crazy!! I am especially worried that Christmas is going to be extremely hard this year. Hang in there! Christy
  5. Hi all, If the cypresswood group is meeting sometime in December, I would really like to find out where/when. My surgery date has been set for the 21st of December, and I am so excited to find out more about the support systems around here. If anyone has any info about meetings in the 290/beltway or hwy 6 area, let me know! Thanks, Christy
  6. I'm going to be banded by Dr. de la Garza in Monterrey in December, and I was told I didn't need a pre-op diet either. His assistant Stephanie said that it is typically done for operations in the states, but it isn't necessary. I don't know if I should do it anyway, just to be safe?
  7. I've been doing alot of research about going to Mexico to get my band done, but now, I am worried that my port could flip and I wouldn't know what to do. If something like this happens, and for whatever reason, you can't go to your dr, would other drs fix it?
  8. I'm also thinking of going to Mexico (from Texas) - do you have the website for Dr. Zapata? Also, how long before and after do you have to stay there?
  9. So, I got the news today that there was an exclusion in my policy and it isn't covered. All day I have been upset about it, but this forum is helping me think of new ways to finance it. I just applied with reliance, so i'm keeping my fingers crossed because my credit isn't that great. What should be my expectations for the time on hearing something back? Also, should I apply with several different financing agencies and get multiple approvals or will that mess up my chances of getting approved?
  10. I'm really happy that I starting reading some of the threads because I had no idea about any of these doctors. I went to Dr. Spiegel's consultation today, and i felt like a herded animal. After reading all these threads- i agree!!! I left feeling so scared that this was all a numbers game to them-with absolutely no real concern for me or anybody in that room. So, now I am researching Dr. Spivak and planning on going to his seminar thing tomorrow. Are there any other ways to research these doctors? Especially after I just found out that in committing to one surgeon, you are more than likely going to have to go to that office for refills, I really want to research this decision. Thanks.
  11. I wanted to know if anyone has any good/bad experiences with Dr. Garth Davis at the Methodist Hospital in Houston? thanks!
