Eight days Post-op

I am now eight days post-op. I just wanted to know what others are consuming one week out...

I generally start the morning off with 2-3 oz. of tea (with skim milk), have 2-3 oz. of Protein shake w/ berries mixed in at lunch time. For dinner I either have 3-4oz. of freshly made chicken broth and that's it for the day. Only on a couple of occasions have I been able to drink a bit more Protein Shake in the evening (1 or 2 oz). I drink about 16 oz. a day of plain or flavored still Water.

I still have quite a lot of pain at my incision points. It is about a 5 on a scale of 1-10. I cannot bend over to pick anything up and getting up off a chair results in what the surgeon thinks is a muscle spasm in my abdomen a few inches below the portacath site.

I'd like to know how everyone else is doing.

I don't think my pain was a 5 but I definitely was still very sore 8 days postop. I still had problems bending. I didn't sleep in my bed until 6 days postop-I had to sleep in a recliner. So, don't worry too much about the pain. I was getting what felt like spasms around my port site too and the surgeon told me it was the muscle and my body trying to reject the port and it did go away. So hang in there. Definitely go see the doctor if it gets worse. It seems as though you're doing good with your meals. I was starving 1 wk post op and wanted to eat. So, you're doing a great job. Congratulations.

I think you are right on mark. My pain didn't go away for at least 2 weeks. I remember not being able to sleep on my side. Your diet sounds like you are doing fine. Just try and get in as many liquids as possible. Sounds like you are sipping so that is a good thing.

Best of luck to you.

I am 12 days post op, and just got clearance for mushies.

1/4 chili through the blender with sprinkle of cheddar cheese and a tsp. of ff. sour cream,

Hi I was just reading your post. I had the lapband done on Dec. 29th. I also had a hernia repaired at the same time. I came home on Sat. I was and am very sore, and then the pain med they gave me made me vomit, where I thought I would die. so got off that, am trying to take crushed up Vicodan , also gaggy. I am trying to just suffer it out for the time being

I am not consuming alot of food (liquids) CIBs 3 a day, and also fluids, and can have one soft food such as a sugar free pudding, etc. I am not hungry, I think I might like to eat something but haven't the feeling kind of passes.

Please feel free to write and compare notes.. I find that I sleep alot too..

I'm 12 days out today, and my diet is still all clear liquids until Friday. Until about two days ago, I wasn't even hungry, but now-- I'm starving, and chicken broth just isn't doing the trick.

As far as discomfort, I picked up my 25 lb nephew about 3 days after surgery, and that wasn't the best of ideas I have ever had. I learned very quickly that the "no lifting" rule is a good idea :) Other than that, and trying to sleep on my stomach, my pain has gone away.
