Difficulty with water?

Recommended Posts

It seems to be more painful to drink Water than anything else. I found that it doesn't really have anything to do with the temp. Seems weird and can't figure out why this could be.

sipping or drinking. If I forget and take a big drink, I'll be wishing that i didn't, but If I sip I'm fine. Also don't drink and eat at the same time.

You are so not the only one. I absolutely cannot drink or sip Water or any other really thin liquid (like Powerade etc). Milk on the other hand goes down really easily! It's so weird! I'm living off milk at the moment. It's the only way I can get my liquids in!

I'm 5 weeks out by the way.

Not sure if your doctors office told you about Water like mine did. They said water had surface tension like rain drops they kind stick to a surface some people that happens on the top of there stomach. It is very normal and common. They say add anything to your water and that will break the tension such ad a lemon or mio or anything. It surprises me so many drs office don't hit on this point more.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
