Hi! I'm Annie' date=' eighteen, (nineteen in April) and I had my sleeve done on 12/20/12. So I'm eight days post op! Yay! It's really cool to see other people my age thinking about it, since everyone in my hospital said I was the youngest person they've seen get the procedure. Glad I'm not alone! I'd be more than ecstatic to answer any questions you guys have about post-op, since I'm going through it. :3[/quote']

Hi Annie!! I'm Katie. congratulations on having your sleeve done. How has post op been treating you so far? My surgeon told me that I was the youngest person he had ever done surgery on, so it is nice to meet someone else around my age who has heard the same thing. I'm having surgery in February, following my 18th birthday. I'm nervous and excited for it. It really is nice to meet you would you like to be friends on this site? :)

Post-op is treating me okay, I had a little more pain than I expected after surgery, but that's only because everyone told me it was virtually painless. Lol suckers. But other than that, it's been really smooth. The only strange thing is I've been feeling kind of winded after doing thing that didn't wind me before. It's strange. I'm going to ask my doc today, at my first post op appointment! :3 and it's wonderful to meet you, and you're strong and brave to make this choice!

Well I'm glad post op is treating you well, besides the pain. The wind think sounds quite strange , what did your doctor say? ( hooray for making it to your first post op appointment)

It is also wonderful to meet you, thank you and you are also strong and brave for going through with everything!

Thank you so much! I think me being winded has to do with being weaker for now. I don't get winded anymore. Just a little tired after doing things. :3 I'm so ready to get out of my house. I feel like a hermit. -_-

I've been out a bit, but before surgery, I was a very very active person. I barely ever came home! So to be in my house for so long, it's driving me crazy. One if the hard things I've run into is asking people for help. I really really have trouble with that. So when I'm trying to lift things over 25lbs, my mom has to stop me. Lol.

i'm very active as well. I realized that i'm not going to be able to do a lot of the things i love right after surgery. (boo) I know how you feel with asking people for help, i have trouble with that too. sometimes my mom has to say "LET ME HELP YOU." or stuff like that hahah.

Omg all the damn time. She's always 'excuse me. I'm here for a reason. Give me that' and she snatches things from me. She's right behind me, getting the surgery mid January.

I'm not a teen anymore :( but I'm not far off-- 25! I'll be 4 months out as of January 4. I am the person that passes out over a cut so I can definitely understand being scared Pre-surgery! I boohoo'd all the way into the operating room! Recovery in the beginning isn't easy, BUT here I am almost 4 months out and 60 lbs down and happy happy happy that I made the decision! Good luck to all of you and if I can answer any questions for you I will definitely try!

Yes, they love usssss! Lol. But I know what you mean about parents health. My mom has a really bad back injury, and that's why she's overweight. /:

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
