New

Hi!

I'm New and i have just decided to get the sleeve. for most of my surgery journey (since April) i've been thinking about getting the lap-band. i'm seventeen, almost eighteen and wanted to know if there was anyone here who was around the same age.

If so, let me know. i'm probably getting my surgery in February.

I once was where you are. I was adamant that I wanted the lapband. I read up on it, joined the forum, etc. It really hit home for me reading all of the complications afterwards. Being nauseous, or having a stuck episode, sliming, I just didnt believe i would be able to endure that no matter how short lived they may be. Making the decision to have the sleeve was not an easy feat but nonetheless I am here. I am comfortable with my decision and now await my surgery date. There is plenty of good information on this site. They even have a section for those who previously or have the lapband and are looking to or have revised to the sleeve.

Good luck!

Thank you so much! I was just going back and forth with the pros and cons and the sleeve had more pros so here i am.

Same here. It is still an uphill battle. I am still a bit scared as i have never had surgery before. What about you?

I've had surgery once before about two years ago. I'm still scared though. My surgery wasn't as intense as getting sleeved but I know that I'm off to a better life once I get this done. When is your surgery scheduled for?

Unfortunately i dont have a date yet. Still waiting on the slow surgeons office... ive knly had wisdom teeth removed.. and i dont have a high tolerance for nagging pains so im thinking its going to be rough for me. Have you finished your preop req's?

I also don't have my date yet. But I'm shooting for mid February. Wisdom teeth are no fun! I also don't do well with pain so this shall be interesting for the both of us. I have one more appointment and then I will be done all my preop req's! How about you? I have to wait until I'm eighteen though, my doctor doesn't do surgery on minors so February it is!

I have finished with all my preop, submitted to insurance and was approved on 12/10. Just waiting on a date so im can get excited. I will definately keep up with regarding the pain thing. Im worrying myself already and im no where near the operating table... lol. A birthday surprise for you!. My bday is jan 3. It would be nice to have it then.

Hi! I'm Annie, eighteen, (nineteen in April) and I had my sleeve done on 12/20/12. So I'm eight days post op! Yay! It's really cool to see other people my age thinking about it, since everyone in my hospital said I was the youngest person they've seen get the procedure. Glad I'm not alone! I'd be more than ecstatic to answer any questions you guys have about post-op, since I'm going through it. :3

Hi Annie!! I'm Katie. congratulations on having your sleeve done. How has post op been treating you so far? My surgeon told me that I was the youngest person he had ever done surgery on, so it is nice to meet someone else around my age who has heard the same thing. I'm having surgery in February, following my 18th birthday. I'm nervous and excited for it. It really is nice to meet you would you like to be friends on this site? :)
