Got called fat...an NSV

Recommended Posts

Actually, I had several NSV's this weekend and thought I would post them.

  • My 13 year old daughter and I were getting ready to go on a road trip on Saturday when she looked at me and told me the jeans I had on were way to baggy and I needed to change. We went through 5 pairs of jeans before we found a pair we both agreed on, even though they were still a bit big. When I started back in April, I was wearing a 30-32. The jeans I settled on yesterday, which were given to me by a wonderful fellow LBT'er, were a size 22 and had plenty of extra room.
  • My husbands children have always hated me and blame me as the reason their parents are not together. Nevermind that they were divorced in 1991 due to her cheating, she was married to someone else by 1992 and my dh and I didn't even meet until 1996. Well, his son has gotten married and she has taken on the role of stepmom abuser. I have a myspace and she didn't like something I posted about people who curse a lot. So, on her myspace, she posted a very nasty blog entry about me, to include calling me fat and ugly. Now, normally, I would have been put to tears by this. But, my NSV was that my only thought was, "sure, I may be fat now, but I will soon be thin and when I am, you will still be a bitch." (sorry for the profanity).
  • Yesterday, we took the kids to the zoo. When we went two years ago, after one hour my feet were killing me, I was sweating profusely, was exhausted and generally miserable. Yesterday, we spent four hours there. My feet never hurt, I didn't get tired and was still full of energy at the end of the day. This was a huge NSV for me because it made the entire experience more enjoyable for everyone.

Thats it for now.

Blended families are really difficult. I'm sorry your stepchildren don't treat you with the love and respect you deserve.

Great NSVs though! I can't wait until my size 22 jeans fit. They go on (and even zip) now, but they're too obscenely tight to wear in public. Maybe in about 10 more lbs....

Your zoo day sounds GREAT.

Great NSV!!!! Way to so Susan.

Don't let the step-bitch-in-law bother you. Your husband loves and cares about you, your kids love and care about you, your friends love and care about you, and most important, you love and care about yourself. All the rest is just bunk.

Truer words were never spoken/thought! :clap2: :clap2:

You are in a very good place about your progress now and giving yourself the kind of positive feedback you desire and deserve. The best kind always comes from within....we're just your cheering gallery!

You go girl!! :croc:

Thanks for the words of support and encouragement everyone, it really means a lot.

My hubby told his kids yesterday that this has gone on long enough. He left their mother back in 1991 and had no plans of ever going back to her. He told them that with him, there is me as we are a package deal. He said if they want to be a part of his life, and he wants them to, then they have to accept me as well and treat me respectfully. The step-daughter-in-law says she can't, but the son says he has never had a problem with me. The other two kids won't respond to us.

Susan,

YOU ROCK!!! I love the way you are struggling with a difficult situation (the kids) and still keep the focus on yourself and what you can do to be healthy and happy!!! What an inspiration you are!!! Way to go.

I started out as a size 34/36 and am in size 20...size 18 jean if you buy Jones of New York...they seem to run a little larger! FUN, FUN to get into 18s and have them be a little baggy in the butt and legs!!! YAHOO!!!!

rharriet62, wow, you have really gone down in sizes, that is awesome! One of my favorite new things to do is go shopping for clothes in my own closet. I am finding gifts that were given to me that I never wore because they were to small and I felt guilty giving them away, old favorites I haven't worn in years, etc.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
