Totally Off My Wagon... Surgery So Far Away.. Suggestions Please! :(

Hey everyone...

Long story short, I was denied in Ontario. Since I was denied, I have been off my healthy eating wagon and it's been a disaster... I scheduled my surgery and I have been worse since then. I really wasn't planning on doing the food funeral but it has kind of happened even though I didn't want it to.

Problem is my surgery is scheduled for March 4th in Puerto Vallarta, and I'm in the process of TRYING to move it to Jan 21st so that I'm not filling my face until March.... which at this point I can't even imagine waiting that long.

Has anyone else has a large gap between finding out their date to when their surgery is?

I believe I have gained 3-5 pounds and thats still with running 3-4km 4 times a week. I can feel it in my stomach area... I feel like crap but I continue to shove crap in my face. I was on such a good track since July and had lost 26.6 pounds... I'm thinking it's more like 22 right now...

Any suggestions? Anyone else feel like this? Most people I've read about have a one month waiting period... with their 2 week diet, sure people do their food funeral but it's only 2 weeks, not 3+ months!!!

I guess the first thing I SHOULD really be doing it tracking my food again, I gave that up once I was kicked out of the bariatric program here (didnt think i needed surgery since they adopted a new model from edmonton, but was a "perfect" candidate before this new model came out and was one test away) it didn't help that the bariatric clinic was blatantly lying to me for 6-8 weeks.

So step 1. Tomorrow start logging everything I eat again, and continue my workouts (this hasn't been a problem) it's the food funeral and not caring/logging my food anymore?

any suggestions from people who have been in my spot are greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!!

Lisa

I didnt have a wait for my surgery, so I can't help with the timeframe. I would highly recommend you read "The End of Overeating," however....it will provide a clear explanation for why you're unable to stop yourself from putting food in your mouth. It was very helpful for me, in terms of managing my behavior both before and after my surgery.

Best,

Hi Maybeoneday

I was really sad to hear what you are going through. Man, that really sucks! I am getting sleeved in Tiajuana on 12/6. I just decided to do it on Nov 26th and they said they could get me right in. I haven't been told that I have to do any kind of pre-op diet either. (cause lets face it, if I was that sucessful at dieting, I wouldn't need the sleeve.)

I am really shocked you have to wait so long. Couldn't you go see another dr?

Good Luck!!!

If you aren't already join My Fitness Pal and friend me there. Sherrifm2012. Will support each other in getting there!

I'm on a liquid 800 calorie VLCD until my surgery in march. I weigh a lot more than you do and I want to lose as much weight as I can BEFORE the surgery in order to have the best outcome possible. I DEFINITELY need to be under 300 prior to surgery but I think I can get down to 290 or even 280..... Well you asked, and that's what I'm doing.

It's not the Dr, I could get in right away with him, but I'm a teacher so I was limited to when I could book it since I only have so many sick days to use. I thought I would only get paid 66% if I go over those days for travel and recovery but just found out (after I booked my flight with airmiles) that I would get paid 90%... so at 90% I could afford to be off, but not for 66% since I'm single and don't have anyone else to rely on. However, I need United to agree to refund my taxes and airmiles on my flight so I can book with another airline since United airlines isn't actually in my city until Feb 14... it's just a giant cluster. If I wasn't paying for the surgery etc etc then I could just book another flight but I can't afford to.... so I've been calling every day to see if they have gotten an answer from United. I'm hoping they said yes to the refund since it's for surgery/medical purposes right.

FINGERS CROSSED! I WANT THIS RIGHT NOW! I'm sick of feeling like crap since I've been off my wagon...

how did you come up with the VLCD of 800 liquid diet?

I would love to lose as much as I can but somehow lost the will power once the hospital here screwed me over... i booked the date and then the tracking stopped and this is where I am now, in the point of not caring what i put in my mouth which was the total opposite of how I got to losing 25 pounds in the first place. I am sooo frustrated with myself because it's no one elses fault but my own. :(`

I just ordered the book, it will take 1-3 weeks to ship to canada but it's on it's way :)

Thanks for the suggestion

This is what I'm doing but it's NOT doctor supervised. It's advised that if you do a VLCD that it be dr supervised. What I did is I read the ingredients/nutrients for Optifast , which is what doctor supervised VLCDs use. I made sure that my nutrients equaled or exceeded the optifast.

My plan is to do three scoops of Protein in 36 ounces fat free milk per day giving me 110 grams of protein and adequate potassium which is something most multivitimins lack (actually a little low on potassium, so I'm adding extra magnesium to aid potassium absorption.. also since my sodium is sooooo low during this time, it is ok to be a bit low on potassium). I'm also taking a prenatal multivitim divided into two doses so I'm taking half the dose in the morning and half the dose in the afternoon. One Vitamin b complex capsule, and one vit d3 tablet with magnesium. One Omega 3 salmon and borrage oil. I'm also doing one kale/lemon/ginger juice shot sweetened with stevia per day. I don't recommend the juice shot unless you're an experienced juicer. Kale shots can be very hard on the tummy if you're not used to them. Ordinarily I'd put some green apple and an orange with the kale and enjoy it as a yummy juice, but I can't do the carbs right now because I want to be in ketosis.

Also I should mention that I don't have any vitamin deficiencies/excesses or anything to begin with. I've had a full blood panel done recently. I wouldn't be doing this if I had any vitamin deficiencies to begin with.
