So Frustrated With Myself

Recommended Posts

Hi, Its been a really long time since I have been on here but right now I really need support. I had my sleeve one year ago Sept. I lost slowly the first 3 or 4 months but lost in total 45 lbs. I have stayed the exact same weight since Jan. I was able to eat with no complications within a few weeks after surgery. The fact that I haven't lost any more weight since then is so frustrating. I now find myself getting back into old habits of eating food that I shouldn't and weighed myself today to find that I have gained 5 lbs back. I just sat on the floor and started crying, I feel like such a failure. I don't want to give up but I don't know what else to do. I had such high hopes before I had the surgery and couldn't wait to be skinny but I weigh 211 and am not even close to my goal. Any words of wisdom or ideas to get this weight loss started again would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much, Summer.

What would you do different if you could do it all over again?

That does sound very frustrating. Did you continue on the prescribed diet after the first 3-4 months, exercise? Have you talked to your surgeon, nutritionist? Good luck and try to start back on your pre op diet or the Protein and veggies if you can make yourself.

Hi honey! START OVER! Do a week of liquids and a week of mushies to reset yourself. Measure your portions and fix your meals on a small plate. Try to watch your sugar/carb intake. Healthy Protein first. Eat small meals every 2 hours. Lots of protein, lowfat foods, and veggies. Cut out any sugary drinks... drink Water with crystal light. Throw in a little exercise. Do not eat after 6 pm. Use your TOOL!!! You can do it girl! YOU CAN DEFINITELY DO IT!!!!! We are all here to support you! I have been there... I had a failed lapband and gained weight back that I had lost. But you can turn this around and keep losing and you will be so happy! KEEP YOUR FAITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am right there with you. I had my surgery March 25. I've only lost about 35 pounds since the surgery. I've been trying to lose about 5 pounds now for two months. It just wont go away. I thought maybe I wasnt eating enough so I started to eat a little more, didn't make a difference. I joined a gym, I have been almost very day for at least two weeks, no difference. I try to drink more Water, and more Protein Drinks, no difference. I dont know what to do, it is very depressing. I am stuck and never thought that I would be stuck like this so soon after having the surgery and thought I would have lost more by now. I use myfitnesspal to track everything, so I know what I'm taking in and know what calories I am burning. I just don't get it. I will support you Summer anyway I can because I am in the same boat, but right now to me I feel like Im on a sinking ship.

@ Summer,I totally understand what you are going through. Its like my worst fear came true. The fear of being that one, who surgery didnt work for. It has been over a year and my total weight loss has been 65 lbs. Some may say Great that's awesome. But to me its very disappointing. At first I thought I was a slow loser but now I just feel like a loser. To go through so much for so little just seems to frustrate me. I wish that I could have come on and given you words of wisdom. But im here to say "You are not alone".

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
