My work requires that I give them a 30 day notice or they can deny the request UNLESS it is an emergency. So it was just a matter of my work agreeing to everything. My job requires uniforms and they are $100 for each (pants and shirt) so I had my Dr put a request in saying that I could wear pants that are comfortable (:

Is that ehat you meant?

I got my date today, February 12. Happy Valentine's Day to me!! Now scrambling around trying to get everything set up and ready as it's not that far away! That's okay though, I'm just glad to know what, when, and where. I'm being revised from leaking band to sleeve. Just so ready to get this done and get back to my life. Hoping and praying that I can get everything squared away at work and that I can get everything covered.

Good luck to everyone! I look forward to hearing about all of your experiences! It's right around the corner for us all! Yay!!!

just a word on fmla. You have to have worked essentially full time for a year to be eligible for fmla. You do not get paid when taking fmla but it does keep the company you work for, from firing you. You, typically, have to give at least 30 days notice if it's not an emergency. Which means you have to give it to your doctor's office to complete before giving it to your employer. You usually have to use all your allotted time off before you can start fmla. I know of some disability insurances that will kick in after a few days so you don't have to use up your pto/sick/vacation days. I think you can take up to 3 months off per year.(if medically necessary obviously), this doesn't mean you have to take it all at once.

I know this isn't everything about fmla, if you know anymore please share!

So the wife's surgery went great! She was sleeved on the 16th and is home in bed next to me now. She has some discomfort but is doing great! After watching her have it done I am so happy we made this choice! Now the 6th can't get here soon enough!!!

Hi guys I'm feb 5 so will be all starting similar time

I'm worried about doing the diet properly before and after.

I share your worries! I start my pre-op all liquid diet on the 4th and I get sleeved on the 18th. I am kind of freaking out about it but I decided that since I only have a couple of weeks to go, that I was going to try and prepare myself a little so I'm doing two shakes a day and one meal and if I feel a little snacky I will have whatever it is that I want (just not a lot of it) I'm sticking to it for the most part but there are a few splurges here and there because I still want to eat a few things before I get sleeved ya know? The meal replacement my doc provides it actually VERY good and only 160 calories per serving, so while I am sure I will be pulling my hair out by the time my surgery rolls around, at least i won't have to be "eating" something that tastes gross! just a side note: since I have started doing this Pre-pre-op diet I have lost close to 10 pounds (aided by exercise a few times a week).
