1 Month Out Calorie Ranges?

Recommended Posts

I am one month out yesterday and down 22 lbs post op and 45 total . Right now I'm averaging between 400-500 cal a day but I'm wondering if this should be higher. I'm getting in all my Water and about 60 g of Protein. I know every docs recommendations are different but I'm wondering what is working for each individual. My loss has slowed ALOT the last couple weeks and I realize thus is the dreaded three week stall but I want to be sure I'm not putting myself in mode

500 for me. It may go very slightly lower or higher, but is usually lower.

My doctor told me that I need 1200 a day, especially if I'm exercising. I only do 1,000 a day, because going that high makes me nervous. But, I am also loosing slower than most...... And in a major stall.

i was at about 400-600 a day for quite a while. now at 6 months out, i'm around 800-900 a day. focus first on your Water, Protein and Vitamins, after that, worry about calories.

What are you all eating for only 500 calories? Seems like Protein Shakes alone would be 300-400. I'm trying to get Protein in, and still eat some Soup, and I'm averaging a little over 600. I'd like to make it less...

I'm 7 weeks and do about 800 a day but I work out 7 days as well even if it's just walking :)

1 month out was 300 to 500 calories, depending on how well I was dealing with solids. I remember that 2-3 ounces of chicken and salmon were a little painful at that time. At almost 5 months, I am at around 600 to 900. Everyone is a little different in their solid transitions. I slimed a lot.

600-800 cals a day is usually what I get but a couple of days ago I think I ate around 300 cals because I wasn't hungry. I brisk walk 2 miles, 3 times a week. I started running on Friday and I've upped my carbs so that I can have a productive workout and push myself. There's no way I could start a running routine eating under 30g of carbs a day, so I eat around 40-70g, anything under 100g of carbs a day is considered low carb. I also start lifting weights next week. I'm almost 7 weeks post op. I'm also currently breastfeeding and supposedly that burns around 500 cals a day.

ETA: On MFP you can log your breastfeeding and it says that I'm averaging about 500 cals a day when you subtract 300 cals for breastfeeding. Maybe this could explain my stall and why I'm so hungry some days :/

A suggestion to you, and others, is to eat on a schedule so as to get in Protein requirements even if not hungry. There are some times when I am not hungry at my 3 hours fuel up time, but I do anyways to keep everything moving along to (my) long term plan. You might consider following a simple rule of 3s. That is eat 3 oz of Protein every 3 hours. Calories end up being in an acceptable range and you end up reaching protein goals and more for the day.

I have been at 600 since surgery, though early on that was a challenge. Now I average around there, sometimes less, sometimes more, but instead of focusing on the calories I actually just focus on getting in my 60g Protein. As soon as I started doing that I broke a three week stall and have dropped over 8lbs in a week. Eating more, and drinking wine :) Who'da thunk LOL

I was about the same as you at one month. 10 weeks out and am now about 650 to 700 a day. Looks like you are about right but we all need to try to follow our doc and nuts guidelines!! Slow and easy

Can someone give me an example of what you eat for 600 calories?

breakfast: 1 egg, 1 mini babybel light

151 cal

Lunch: creamy chicken Soup to go

150 cal

Dinner: Starkist tuna creation

110 cal

MUST do: Isopure Protein drink

160 cal AND 40 gr PROTEIN!

snack: SF chocolate fudge bar

45 cal

My menu changes EVERYDAY and the only time I go over 650 cal is if Im trying to break a stall.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
