How Do I Breathe?!

Recommended Posts

The hospital just bumped my surgery from Wednesday to first thing Monday morning which means I start my liquid diet tomorrow! Ack! I'm not ready! My house isn't clean, I haven't done my grocery shopping, I don't even have the stuff I need for surgery. Crap! I'm scared out of my mind. My BP was 179/107 at the doctor today after they told me! That's NEVER happened to me before!

Deep breathes, just make it through the next 24 hours one step at a time. Go to the store tonight, but don't over purchase, you can always go back for more if you need. It will allllll be okay, and clean your house a little everyday, no need to exhaust yourself the first day of the liquid diet!! Congrats on the bump up in dates!

Thanks ;) I did swing by GNC after my dr and got a couple bottles of Isopure (not good, but not as bad as I had thought) and stopped at Walmart to get a couple of things on my list. I'm going back with my mom later and she's going to take me to t last big meal. Whew. One step at a time, breathing helps ;)

How exciting! My story was just the opposite! I had everything clean and ready. My bag was packed, made 14 meals to feed my family including thanksgiving dinner, child care was all arranged I had done a cleanse and then...day before surgery I got a call that my surgoun had an emergency and it was reascheduled! I was suppose to be sleeved the 15th and now it's the 23rd. I had to re adjust everything, but it's still worth it and readjusting to sooner than later is fantastically exciting at least. It's Bette then more waiting!!! Lol. I hope everything goes well!!! :)

I can empathize. My surgery date has been changed three times, twice by the surgeon.

Aggg! That's so tough! It takes to much planning to get ready for. In my situation we don't have family where we live and I have two Elementry age kids and my hospital won't let me bring anything with me. Which means I need someone to bring it to me and I would like to have a little help if I need it. I understand things happen but three times!! That's got to be very frustrating! Here's hoping mine goes through this week! :)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
