Saw Some Old Friends - They Were Wowed!

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I saw a group of people that I haven't seen in years. They were blown away by the weight loss but what really warmed my heart was my friend L saying that i looked 20 years younger. I have been feeling a bit discouraged about my looks, so that little comment really made me feel better!

So, for those of you feeling discouraged because you aren't quite at goal (I am still 25# over my goal) - these are the little reminders of just how far we have come. Focus on that, Celebrate the successes!

The same thing happened to me last night. I made a funny comment at the end of a movie and people in front of us turned around and laughed. I instantly recognized them, but it took them awhile to recognize me. Then all they could say was how wonderful I looked and how much weight I'd lost. You are so right, Jane. After being in a stall for a week now, that really lifted my spirits and reminded me how much better I looked. Today, I press on!

I always get now...Tell Susan I said hi...whenever I got to a trade show. I know them, but they don't know me. It is a little weird. I am the same person. All they probably saw was a fat person before. But whatever.

Well, I haven't quite seen it this way. so far my experience is that people are overjoyed for me. I am an active outdoorsy person who was trapped by the fat and really limited. I think many people "admired" that I tried to keep up even lugging an extra 150 or so extra pounds! It has been positive for me when people are wowed, floored by the changes!

I did meet a lady a couple of weeks ago that I never could get her to remember me. She is sweet, and so am I - so i didn't mention that I almost didn't recognize her because she has gotten so dang wrinkly the last 6-8 years since I saw her last...lol. I guess it is more then weight changes.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
