Interesting Side Effect Of Vsg

Recommended Posts

To combat the clothing dilemma, I've spent a few days on youtube and taught myself how to sew. I've taken in and shortened a ton of my old clothes to extend the life of my fat stuff and now my medium-fat stuff. I had a stark discussion with the Mrs. when I made a reference to my "sewing pile" the other day and how much time I am spending at the machine.

Mind you, the Mrs. had a raised eyebrow at first, but has fully embraced it now that I've altered a number of her clothes as well. Had I know how fun (and easy) this was, I would have made a different career choice years ago.

Oh you should take orders Hehe

I wish I had a sewing machine...I wouldn't know how to use it but buying new clothes constantly is hurting the wallet!!

Seamstress pays so little LOL And what would you be??? Seamster? heh heh

I have about 30 quilts down in my sewing room that need to be finished (I'm a fabulous starter!) so if your pile gets low, please let me know and I'll be happy to sneak a couple on top!

I was just talking to someone about sewing. I now have the sewing room of my dream, and when I was postpartum I didn't get depressed...I got expensive (bought three very very high quality machines in one day once) so now that room just sits there...I keep adding fabric but haven't made anything in seven years and I refuse to mend clothing because then DH and DS would expect it LOL

I hope your new addiction includes a quality machine. It's so much more fun to sew with good tools!

taught myself how to sew.

hey dude, you are a man after my own heart!!!

taking the initiative, learning how to sew. good for you!!!!

I don't know how to sew - would love to learn, but....looks like too much work!!! when you come down to it, i'm basically lazy about stuff like that :o

big kudos on learning how to take in your "fat" clothes. - why buy new when you can alter great looking possibly expensive stuff, right?????

that being said - treat yourself to some new stuff too, you deserve rewards

I don't "think" men care that much about new clothes, shopping et al. (could be wrong)

but...of course "even for you guys" ^_^ , showing off your new and improved body with new clothes, thats gotta be a great feeling

you guys can also "strutt your stuff"

btw geno - i see B) you are pushing that door successfully to enter the century club soon - good for you

but......don't run/knock me over please - i'm down 97 lbs ,( having trouble fixing my ticker  ) i want to get into the club too!!!!

congrats on your weight loss

WooHoo

Yeah, it works for a while. I had a fav shirt, soft as silk and oh so warm and comfy, we took it in once, the next time it was going to put the breast pocket somewhere under my armpit so I had to toss it. Hated that!

I used to make all of my & my children's clothes. Necessity is the mother of invention ;-) Being a tailor is an old and honorable profession. Even the Apostle Paul was a tent maker !

I did the same thing! And 44lbs down I can still wear the same 'fat' clothes. They will do now for another few pounds and then it will be time for a few new items.

Way to go on learning to sew!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
