I Was Sleeved In May And Just Found Out I Am Pregnant

Recommended Posts

I am really confused by all of this... Please see a doctor do NOT do anything that you THINK will cause a "natural miscarriage" As Iggychic said the only natural miscarriage is one that happens without any intervention by you. While I would never consider abortion for myself, if you truely feel like you can not go through a pregnancy then please consider this. If you feel like you can get through the pregnancy but are not in a position to raise a child then please consider adoption.

I am 3 mps post op and 10 wks pregnant. I did not plan this pregnancy either. In fact I had an IUD in an still got pregnant. I also am having all day sickness and severe acid reflux. My Dr prescribed me zofran for my sickness but it doesn't help much. I believe in Gods plan and I believe that if you are suppose to have this baby you will. It wasn't a mistake becoming pregnant. I am staying optimistic and praying the sickness ends soon. I was sick with my other two until 14 wks with both. Stay strong!

Based on when I had sex...it could only be 2weeks.

Do you even know if you ARE pregnant? Has a doctor checked you? I have to give my opinion...but I too believe in God's plan and murdering a child because you have acid reflux and morning sickness (both COMPLETELY NORMAL even without a sleeve) is the most selfish act I can imagine. At my fattest I carried 2 girls and was sick for all 9 months not able to eat meat at all throwing up every 15-30 minutes with high blood pressure and medicated heart burn plus max tums and nearly died giving birth BUT i would do it over a hundred more times because they make life worth living. It was after they turned 3 that I got sleeved so that I could spend even more years on earth healthy loving them. I cant imagine willingly flushing their entire lives ...a million smiles...down the drain over morning sickness and heartburn....

You didnt mention this was at least the second time you've gotten unwanted pregnant since you were sleeved... ... ...

When I read your post you said you had heartburn and morning sickness therefore you wanted a "natural miscarrage" so you didnt have to put up with it which another person said could leave the baby brain damaged and/or deformed. That is what I called selfish earlier and if you cant understand where I am coming from or that what I said about my experience was not even about what I lived through but what a baby is worth then I'm not speaking the same language as you. To use your metaphor...100 heart attacks outcome unknown are worth the lives of my daughters if that makes more sense to you.

If you feel judged or mad by my opinion I am sorry as that was not my intent. I will not post again on your thread. Also know that there is a safe chemo patient drug pregnant people can take to stop nausia that has FDA approval. If you dont try to get rid of the baby your obgyn can tell you more about it. Good luck!

I don't believe I read anywhere on this thread that this was a second unwanted pregnancy. I think the OP was/is clearly going through crisis and there is no need for harsh words or hateful accusations. You say that your intent was not to make the OP feel judged but I have the distinct impression that those words are a hollow apology based on the context it was written in. Kindness and dignity gets us far more in life BioChick.

This forum is supposed to be a place where we can lean on each other. Obviously with so many people coming from widely varied demographics there are bound to be differing beliefs - even people we don't like. My suggestion is that if it doesn't pertain to you, if it isn't constructive, if you will do more harm than good - gracefully bow out.

This sounds like a tough and heart breaking situation, regardless of belief systems; let's have some empathy.

Haha she just said she was sleeved in May was pregnant 9 weeks ago and is pregant again. 1+1=2.

I know its easier for you to get on a high horse yelling at me for not agreeing that self induced miscarrage is not the right thing to do but someone has to speek up for the innocent unborn child and if that makes you hate me then I accept your hateful judgement of me with a smile on my face knowing that my heart is in the right place. God Bless You and HAPPY THANKSGIVING ♥♡♡♡♥

OP: keep your head up. This is your journey and no one else's. Of course there are going to be very strong opinions regarding the choice to terminate a pregnancy (not sure that was even what you were referring to). I'm sorry that you are going through this and wish you the best.

I just read through the entire thread and see no such quote from loveisbeauty. I'm not yelling, nor am I being hateful. I do see a quote where she references her other 2 pregnancies *pre surgery*

If you could give a direct quote - not a paraphrase- I could participate in this dialogue much better.

I dont think PP was being judgemental. She was merely giving a personal opinion. I too have the same beliefs and it is AWESOME to know that someone will speak out and not be backed in a corner because their beliefs differ. In my opinion it was being supportive, just not what you all wanted to hear. I have a daughter who make rash decisions all the time and she tells me that she is so thankful that I tell her like it is because it helps her see the other side. That is the problem with our world today, "bowing out gracefully" and not standing up for what is right. All for the sake of not wanting to offend someone. Sometimes the truth hurts.Good for you BIOCHICK!

I think it is important to imagine the context that the OP wrote this in. I would have felt panicked, overwhelmed, and upset. I would have been seeking help and understanding. I would not have wanted someone comparing their awful pregnancy to mine in an " if I can do it so can you so suck it up" manner. There are many ways to prove your point. The OP is simply human and deserves that compassion. Your argument about the humanity of the fetus comes second to that. I'm saying choose an appropriate manner to convey your thoughts or step off. That's all.

It is the one she posted at ~5am right after she said "BTW... "

The way I read that was that she was 9 weeks in to a pregnancy not 2 weeks like she thought. Anyways what's done is done. She asked for support and advice and has gotten that from many different viewpoints. Instead of attacking the OP or other's actions and ideas, let's use our time to be thankful for what we have.

So I guess after gastric bypass surgery, I cant eat flock chips because they are fried???  They sell them on here so I thought I could have them. So high in protein and no carbs.  They don't bother me at all.  Help.

It's possible for a very high fat meal to cause dumping in some (30% or so) gastric bypass patients, although it's more likely to be triggered by high sugar, or by the high fat/high sugar combo (think ice cream, donuts). Dietitians will tell you to never do anything that isn't 100% healthy ever again. Realistically, you should aim for a good balance of protein, carbs, and fat each day. Should you eat fried foods every day? No. Is it possible they will make you sick? Maybe. Is it okay to eat some to see what happens and have them for a treat every now and again? Yes.

I'm not at all hungry on this liquid pre-op diet, but I miss the sensation of chewing. It's been about two weeks––surgery is in two days––and I can't imagine how I'll feel a couple of weeks post-op. Tonight, I randomly stumbled upon a mukbang channel on YouTube, and it was strangely soothing... is it just me, or is this a thing?

I actually watched cooking shows during my pre-op, like Great British Baking Show. It was a little bizarre, but didn't make me hungry. I think it was also soothing in a way.

How do you figure out what your ideal weight should be? I've had a figure in my head for years, but after 3 mths of recovery I'm already almost there. So maybe my goal should be lower?

Well, there is actually a formula for "Ideal Body Weight" and you can use a calculator to figure it out for you. This one also does an adjusted weight for a person who starts out overweight or obese. https://www.mdcalc.com/calc/68/ideal-body-weight-adjusted-body-weight

I would use that as a starting point, and then just see how you feel as you lose. How you look and feel is more important than a number.

      2. Clueless_girl

I did find different calculators but I couldn't find any that accounted for body frame. But you're right, it is just a number. It was just disheartening to see that although I lost 60% of my excess weight, it's still not in the "normal/healthy" range..

Tomorrow marks two weeks since surgery day and while I'm feeling remarkably well and going about just about every normal activity, I did wind up with a surface abscess on on of my incision sights and was put on an antibiotic that made me so impacted that it took me more than two hours to eliminate yesterday and scared the hell out of me. Now there's Miralax in all my beverages that aren't Smooth Move tea. I cannot experience that again. I shouldn't have to take Ativan to go to the lady's. I really looking forward to my body getting with the program again.
I'm in day three of the "puree" stage of eating and despite the strange textures, all of the savory flavors seem decadent.
I timed this surgery so that I'd be recovering during my spring break. That was a good plan. Today is a state holiday and the final day of break. I feel really strong to return to school tomorrow.

Now that I'm in maintenance mode, I'm getting a into a routine for my meals. Every day, I start out with 8-16 ounces of water, and then a proffee, which I have come to look forward to even the night before. My proffees are simply a black coffee with a protein powder added. There are three products that I cycle through: Premier Vanilla, Orgain Vanilla, and Dymatize Vanilla.
For second breakfast on workdays, I will have a low-fat yogurt with two tablespoons of PBFit and two teaspoons of no sugar added dried cherries. I will have ingested 35-45 grams of protein at this point between the two breakfasts, with 250-285 calories, and about 20 carbs.
For second breakfast on non-workdays, I will prepare two servings of plain, instant oatmeal with a tablespoon of an olive oil-based spread. This means I will have had 34 grams of protein, 365 calories, and 38 carbs. Non-workdays are when I am being very active with training sessions, so I allow myself more carbohydrate fuel.
Snacks on any day are always mixed nuts, even when I am travelling. I will have 0.2 cups of a blend that I make myself. It consists of dry roasted peanuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, pistachios, and Brazil nuts. This is 5 grams of protein, 163 calories, and 7 carbs.
Breakfast and snacks have been the easiest to nail down. Lunch and dinner have more variables, and I prepare enough for leftovers. I concentrate on protein first, and then add vegetables. Typically tempeh, tofu, or Field Roast products with roasted or sautéed vegetables. Today, I will be eating leftovers from last night. Two ounces of tempeh with four ounces of roasted vegetables that consist of red and yellow sweet peppers, sweet potatoes, small purple potatoes, zucchini, and carrots. I will add a tablespoon of olive oil-based spread, break up 3 walnuts to sprinkle of top, and garnish with two tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese. This particular meal will be 19 grams of protein, 377 calories, and 28 grams of carbs. Bear in mind that I do eat more carbs when I am not working, and I focus on ingesting healthy carbs instead of breads/crackers/chips/crisps.
It's a helluva journey and I'm thankful to be on it!
