Someone on this thread asked if there is something we cannot have pre-op. besides incredibly varying diets set by our respective surgeons, the thing I was told was the day before surgery (my clear liquid day) was no reds and no purples. Makes sense. Don't want to really freak the surgeon out once he gets in there.

Do any of you guts have times to be there? Meet with my surgeon again in Friday! I think I will go to a WLS support group meeting tonight! Just to work out some of my butterflies!

Ok Army girl, me and you are in this together. I am a diagnosed binge eater. I am in CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), I am combining that with the surgery and my own will power (which is still getting there). I was dreading the liquid diet. But being the creative fat girl I am, I found flavor.

Fat Free Cottage cheese, 1 tsb with three frozen strawberries and some sprinkled splenda- tastes like a dessert, and the cottage cheese has whey Protein in it, like 9 grams.

Soups- any beef or chicken bouillon with veggies. I I buy the steamer bags of spinach and carrots and use those. I like adding Ms. Dash or Goya seasonings. I add some lemon and scallions if its just plain broth.

Yoplait Yogurt Light- Comes in many many flavors- Key Lime, red velvet, black forest, strawberry shortcake. 90 Calories each and 5 grams of sugar, some Protein. The thick an creamy and the whips are high in sugar, stick to the light.

I have had some grilled chicken I will admit, and turkey lunch meat, so I am not perfect. BUt not carbs, breads, or fats of any kind besides the residuals in yogurt and cottage cheese.

CRYSTAL light. I hate Water. I drink 5 bottles of Water a day mixed with half a pack of single serve crystal light.

AND i forgot my EAS Carb Advantage shakes with 17 grams of Protein. 3 of those a day. I ordered Syntrax unflavored protein to reduce calories after surgery too.

I am November 19th too. My surgeon allows full diet until the day before and we switch to Clear Liquids. I wish I was required to do a liquid diet because I am battling the "farewell to food" complex. I am doing at least one meal as a Protein Shake. Nervous but excited all at the same time.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
