October Sleevers-How Ya Doin?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved yesterday. how long does your belly feel sore? Did you have trouble getting your liquids in the first few pre/ op days?

I was sleeved Oct. 15. I was sore for at least two weeks. I still am at times when my pants hit the wrong spot. I'm still rather bruised in spots.

It took a while to get my liquids in. The first week was rough, but it got easier. I'm still having trouble with liquids. Sometimes Water gives me stomach pain. I'm not sure why, but it is weird.

I was sleeved on oct 11 and I don't know if it's a stage that everyone goes through but I'm regretting doing my VSG

I'm so scared my stomach will leak the Vitamins taste so bad and so complicated to take I can not stand the Protein shakes

I'm 4 weeks out I lost abut 30lbs I guess it's not bad when I read other people progress I'm gassy' date=' hungry, and constipated my sense of smell has been heightened I have been eating chicken and salmon and yogurt to get more Protein I'm sooooo regretting having the sleeve done i hope its just a phase I hope I found someone who can relate and not discouraging anyone from pursuing the VSG I'm just looking for support

I was feeling like that a little bit, too, especially when I hit a wall this week with some weight gain. I barely get in 800 calories, but still gained a pound. I am also hungry all the time, too. Today, eating some smoked salmon helped. It was high in protein and filled me up & kept me full.

I added Greek yogurt to my Protein shake & that helped with the taste. I'm working very hard to stick to 3 meals a day. It helps to schedule it & plan ahead. If I'm hungry in between, I drink my shake. That is hard to do, but this is where my mantra comes in handy, "today I will not quit no matter how difficult it gets."

It's a head game right now. We just have to believe this will work. It has to. Hang in there and try to take it one day, one hour, one minute at a time. Maybe try picking a goal for the day...like having 20 grams of protein at lunch...or whatever. My goal for tomorrow is to eat Breakfast...real Breakfast, not a Protein Shake. Let us know how you're doing.

I was sleeved 10/18' date=' and I am hungry all the freakin time! I am only down 15 and am still in the same clothes which are still tight. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

I haven't had a problem getting fluids in or my Protein shakes, but I do eat cheese and I dont think I should. I am a cheesaholic, it sits in my stomach nice along with anything else I eat. I have had no problems with anything which really kinda sucks to be honest. I wanted that, I don't like food anymore feeling, but never got it. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

Everyone is losing weight like crazy, and me, well I'm sitting at the same weight for a few days now. I know I'm not supposed to compare myself to everyone else, but it still gets upsetting when you read everyone else's weightloss.

I'm still on full liquids, but have been eating pureed egg salad and pureed ham or turkey, I thought maybe that would help with weightloss, but nothin! I dont know, what gives!? <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mellow.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />[/quote']

I'm no expert but, have you thought your hunger be mental? I know mine is. Our stomach is the size if a banana , anymore than that we don't need. I'm trying to retrain my brain while still in liquids. Good luck my friend, I know you will have success in the long run!

I was sleeved October 26th and I've lost 24 pounds since pre-diet. I have not been able to drink my Protein Shakes. They either get stuck going down (even with small sips), or make me nauseous. I have been able to drink my liquids. I have one more week of liquids and Protein shakes and then I'll move to pureed foods. I've been feeling pretty good despite not being able to drink my protein. I'm still sore on the inside near my incisions. Anyone else have these issues?

I was sleeved on Oct 26th also. I've lost 18 lbs and haven't really lost the past few days. I am ashamed to say I have cheated and had a few bites of normal food. Yesterday I tried a little bit of tuna salad and puked it all back up. I am mad at myself because I have been weak minded. I have been drinking some of the ready to drink protein shakes and haven't had a problem with those. Pure Protein, Atkins, Slim Fast makes a low carb protein shake and the Total Lean Shakes from GNC are pretty good. I find that when they get to warm I stick them in the freezer and let them get slushy icy and they are easier to consume. As far as the soreness on the inside, yes I still am sore also. Mainly bothers me at night when I switch from left to right while sleeping. Hoping the soreness is completely gone next week!

I'm 4 weeks post-op today. I've lost 22 lbs. since my sleeve on 10/11/12, plus 23 Pre-op-tatal -45 lbs. Since 8/25/12. Size 22 to a 18-pleased with loss but am also mourning food. I open the fridge and stare! I was excited for puree stage and now I'm discouraged, a little. Even though I can only eat 1/4 cup of food, I still want it to taste good! It hard getting fluids in with the no beverage 1/2 hour before or 1 hour after eating meals rule, and I have to have 2 shakes a day to get min. Protein in-meals are too small and limited to cut it! The good news is every day I feel better and better-I don't feel like I even had surgery a month ago!

I'm also mourning food. Meal times are really depressing right now. Mostly because I have a lot of pain when I eat. My surgeon has no idea why but it will probably go away. It's annoying having to eat so slow that after two bites my food is already cold. This whole thing has become really depressing.

Just sleeved November 5th ..... I do admit you ask yourself what have you done when you take that first sip and your body is rejecting it. And i too have those aches and pains on my stomach... But I know that in the long run it will be worth it ...... just the tought of being able to do thing that I use to will keep me moving towards my goal and never looking back. I would also like to add that this forum is so vital I read postings during my preop stage and now and it has reassured me when i 've questioned myself... so keep posting cause I will keep reading :-)

I was sleeved 10\23 and had my 2 week post op appt yesterday. My Nut said to eat every two hours, even if it was just a glass of skim milk. I know everyone's Nut has a different opinion of how to eat :) She said I will probably need a protien shake a day to hit my 60 g of protien...ick, but I will be good and do it...

Remember that one of your biggest challenges will be mental hunger, not physical. A lot of us are coming to this with a history of eating whatever we want, whenever we want, and justifying it. Try to figure out what it is about that food that you're craving. Maybe it's got something else your body wants.

I've found that keeping food journal (for the first time ever) helps keep me in line. Everything I eat gets written down, no matter if it's just one thing. Somehow, knowing that I would have to write down "ate cheesecake" or "ate cupcake" and knowing that I just blew most of, if not all of, a day's worth of calories is just no longer worth it.

If you just want something to chew on, try Jerky or other high Protein Snacks. Failing that, I love veggies (though I've not really eaten any since surgery yet >.>), especially steamed broccoli.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
