Sounds like the gas they use to inflate your stomach. Like you that hurt me more than the incisional pain for sure. I took gas ex and walked a lot. Seemed to help

Walk! Sip! Gas med! Best advise don't be a hero take pain meds if needed. Back pain is probably from mesh to support adominal wall on side of biggest incision were stomach was taken out...it will hurt & be sore for a while. Good luck & congrats...F.Y.I. SD was 12.10.12 my incision & back has some pain & discomfort, allow body time to heal.

Dr. CJ j/k but my journey has been filled with education & knowledge of & about VSG. Many yrs research & personal experience.

Ok my fellow sleevers. I was sleeved on 12/26 and trying to figure out what I can get down. Ive tried chicken broth (can get a couple of teaspoons down before my stomach tells me that's enough) ive tried SF Jello with the same results. I have been sipping Water all day. Am I being too impatient ?

I feel your pain. I was sleeved on the 18 ... Try freezing fruit punch crystal light or ice tea crystal light until its slushie .. 1 oz at a time u will get there..so good.. If you don't want to wait until it freezes ill tell u about a slushie trick... Idk if u ever seen that commercial slushie magic? Things turn into flush in an instant? The trick is salt water! Take a small ziplock bag fill it up with water and salt ... Seal it ..Freeze it... Once frozen take a bigger ziplock bag... Measure the amount of liquid you are suppose to intake ...place the sealed frozen bag of salt water into the bigger ziplock and shake.. It will turn into slushie right before your eyes.. I hope this works for u

I bought one of those magic slushy things for my kiddo and the cubes would never freeze. How much salt did you put in the Water to make it work?

I had mine Dec.10....I'm having a really hard time getting Protein down and all my liquids. I started purees yesterday....I had red snapper fish with liquid on it to keep it mushy....a half tap of potato salad.....I feel amazing in spite of the limited protein.

I was sleeved on 12/12. Yesterday was my first day on the soft diet. Was only able to get down 1/2 an egg and 0.5 oz of cheese before being full. So i can only tolerate about a half cup of anything before getting too full. I'm down 30 lbs since starting my preop diet! Some days i hit my protein and liquid goal but i haven't since starting the soft stage.

I was sleeved dec 4. I had a painball and a pain pump. I did surprisingly well. I was soar and moving around hurt but I woke up comfortable in recovery don't remember a thing. I was up walking the first day and discharged to second day. I have no food restrictions at this point but to just avoid carbs as much as possible.

I was sleeved on dec 17. So far so good. I dealt with some pain the first 4 days. The worst pain was in my left shoulder, but that went away by day 4. Then I experienced a couple of days when I didn't have very much energy and felt weak, however, my weight loss is 21 lbs thus far. I'm feeling stronger each day, walking and moving around helps allot. Tired of shakes but i have to keep pressing forward with them. Can't wait until i graduate to soft foods :)

Yes your being vey impatient. That's the good part of having this surgery. Your going to lose your most weight the first week. I couldn't do the plain chicken broth. So I would strain the light Progresso Soup and was so much better. Just take your time. You won't be able to get in all your water for at least a week. I will be 2 weeks post op on Monday. Just starting to get all my water. Started my soft food on Thursday. Can only eat half an egg, maybe a 1/4 cup of fat free retried Beans. So to me I see it as a good thing. I've lost 26 pounds since I've started this journey. 10 pounds pre op. So I wish you the best of luck.

When were u sleeved? I was sleeved the 18 and I'm having a hard time holding anything down.. I'm so jealous :( .i love Water I wish I could chug a 20 oz Poland spring without fear... Will I ever?

I was sleeved the 17th. I use a baby spoon and it works really well for me. Put it down during bites and make sure it's chewed very well. Good luck sweetie!

Hey sleevers, I know its been a while I hv been trying to get myself together with my new stomache, diet, and weight loss. I was sleeved on Dec 4th and doing great, my starting weight was 264, day of surgery 259, today my weight is 225. I feel great eating is going well, things going down easily n stomache sitting well with the foods I hv tried so far. I feel like a soft food diet will be my diet from here on. I realize I dont really care for meat anymore, veggies are great, and I hv only had mashed potatoes and grits as a starch. I need help with this situation, My skin has been terribly itching since my surgery has anyone had this problem??? I convinced myself its from the weight loss can someone help me

I am right there with you with the itchy skin!! I am doing lotion on places I never had to put lotion on. I thought it was maybe dry skin. Now I am thinking it might be the sudden fast drop in fat in our diets. Either that or some other nutrient. I am doing Biotin but I was doing it for years before I had surgery. My skin is so itchy, I was concerned I was having some reaction to something.

I have been eating 99% Protein at this point. My surgery was about your time, 12-6. I can't get anything else in. Yesterday, I did get in 2 baby carrots with my lunch of string cheese and I managed my first piece of toast. I have had sweet potatoes on the counter I wanted to bake for weeks but what is the point if protein is going to take all the space. I go in this week to see the doctor/NUT and was going to ask about if my diet is correct.

Like you, I am loving the results. I went to my first big social event and wore pants a size I could not believe. I look in the mirror and think wow is that me?

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
